Re: Best Metal Albums of the 00's
I will go only with those I can think off the top of my head:
Napalm Death - Smear Campaign (but really from 'Enemies' onwards, so untouchable)
Jello Biafra and the Melvins - Never Breathe What you Can't See
Entombed - Morning Star (ridiculously under-rated/dismissed - thrashy as fuck)
Ministry - Rio Grande Blood
October File - Holy Armour from the Jaws of God
Clutch - From Beale Street to Oblivion (and Strange Cousins is now purchased and adored)
Drowningman - Rock n Roll Killing Machine
At the Drive-In - The Relationship of Command
Mastodon - Leviathan (it's difficult with Mastodon. Used to only really love Remission and it had a huge impact but, over time, both the follow-ups have managed a greater longevity)
Down - II: A Bustle in your Hedgegrow
Place of Skulls - With Vision (although, at first, not a real mover, it does earn many re-listens)
Subhumans - Internal Riot (excellent return)
Gama Bomb - Survival of the Fastest
Witchcraft - Firewood
Feel like I'm missing loads of obvious ones. However, this will have to do - oh, and the Priest and Maiden first efforts of the noughties (Angel of Retribution [bar Loch Ness] and Brave New World. The list also only includes albums I own and not those I've overheard and think are wicked - like Songs for the Deaf and others.

Re: Best Metal Albums of the 00's
Yeah I do, I'm a big fan of all those bands, have all their albums, seen em all a few times, been to 4 or 5 festivals and loads of gigs, it's not about who's more underground and "cooler" to me cos they like more underground bands or bands who havent sold out or made it big, I like the bands I like, I'm also into Nevermore, Communic and The More I See, all reasonably underground bands, if ur having a go at my taste that's fine, you wouldnt like it if I had a go cos ur trying to "keep it real metal and underground" to prove your more metal than me, I respect that others like bands less popular than me, I've been into all of those bands bar dragonforce for 8 to 10 years, I'm always finding new bands, it just so happens that most of the bands I'm into have made it big or mainstreem within the metal scene, doesn't mean ill stop supporting them, unless they change their style a lot and i don't like it!
Just found Savage Messiah who I quite like, will be buying that soon! Anyway my music tastes are as they are, if anyone doesnt like it that's fine, it just annoys me this whole metal culture of slagging off bands that have any measure of success like they stop been metal enough, like when they sell x number of records they become a "big" band rather than a big metal band!

Yeah I expect SOME stick fair enough dont get me wrong, just wanted to make the point that I dont see a band getting big and jump on the bandwaggon as it were, that's not the reason I'm into quite a few bigger bands, I will always be loyal to my bands, I think Slayer Reign In Blood and Seasons In The Abyss are awesome albums as well as Master of Puppets, I'm into more bands than those listed in my top 10 as I say, stuff with varying amounts of thrash techniques and sounds, System are my fave band, I think they're genius with a unique sound, along with Nevermore, Jeff Loomis is an incredible guitarist!

Yeah, I've got it along with Warrel's solo album too, love em both, the youtube videos of people covering Jeff's songs and Jeff playing them are great, otherwise I wouldn't fully appreciate the level of musicmanship in that album, I've got all their albums, I CANT WAIT for the new Nevermore album, how they're gonna top This Godless Endeavour I don't know but they're gonna get close I know! All The Cowards Hide (Bonus song from Believe In Nothing single is on You Tube, I posted it on there if ur interested! Good to find a fellow Neverhead!

Nah man i was just asking because it is strange to see on a thrash forum. And im the last person who would try to be more metal than anybody, i dont listen to a great deal of metal.

OK no probs then, it's just that's the only thing about metal I dont like, the culture of slagging bands off as I mentioned in my earlier post on this thread, like Trivium, they're confident, they have ambition, they want to be somewhere near the next Metalica they say, that's fine I'd rather be into a band that is hungry to do the best they can rather than be into one who feels limited by their genre of their fans opinions and reactions to their changing even slightly. Like Trivium each of their albums are a bit different, they are one of the best of their genre, they work hard and are very pro at what they do, I respect that a great deal, they love their fans as all bands do, and to top it all theyre not limited to what they can do by their ability, if they want to play more technical metal like on their latest album they can do, that's why I LOVE nevermore, for me they're a perfect mix of thrash, dark atmosphere, melodic power, and technical guitar work! If you've never heard of em I suggest checking em out btw! lol Yeah I realise that MOST people are not into the amount of biggish bands I'm into and at the same time into more thrashier stuff (Slayer, The More I See, Communic, Nevermore), I can appreciate lots of different styles of music for different reasons I find!

You'll get elitists everywhere in metal man, people put it down as a bad thing but we're all probably a bit elitist, its the way people are i supose.
Im sure people here could point you in a perfect direction for thrash. All id say is, Sepultura - Beneath The Remains. Do it.

I will do, theyre a bit different are Sepultura to most, I love the Roots album, got that one, Roots still one of the all out heaviest songs I've heard (not speed or technicality, just bone crunching heaviness I mean), I'm currently listening to Savage Messiah who I'm very impressed with!

Terrorizer's "Secret History Of The Decade" magazine is out, and has their 100 top albums of the decade in. Electric Wizard - Dopethrone was No.1. I'll see if I can find the whole list if anyone gives a shit, balls to typing it all out.

Any top 100 that has Electric Wizard at the top has got to be worth something, which is unusual seeing Terrorizer are normally too busy calling Trigger The Bloodshed the future of death metal.
