I'm sure some time in the studio with a good producer will knock the news tunes in to shape.

Re: Evile, Mutant and Warpath tour
this gig was toooooo good.
so many positives it was unreal.
River Freshney:i saw them play here a month or so ago to a more hardcore oriented crowd(who had a lot of attitude).the set went down ok but only thanks to a bunch of 15-20 or so loyal freshney fans/friends.the rest of the crowd just didnt seem to get it as hardcore fans are usually all about the anger and not the jokey style bands.
anyway,i think at this more thrash themed gig River Freshney finally got a huge, warm, well deserved, well overdue amazing response.
considering they were on at around 7 ish, they had a huge crowd checking them out.tons of young thrash kids headbanging along and this time there was a pit halfway through which remained solid till the end.
plenty of karaoke/mic passing to the crowd and the best jokes/banter ive heard yet.whether the jokes were offensive or aimed at certain types of people in the metal scene, they were damn funny.
a great debut from Faraz,he had a different kinda mood/vibe playing with Freshney....but his clothes were still the same lol.
but yeah,i was expecting the standard clap/cheer et the end but boy was i mistaken,
the minute Freshney said the thanks/goodnight bit there was a roar which was huge.it was like someone had scored a goal and the crowds gone wild.
it didnt occur to me to look behind me during the set,so at the end,to my surprise when i turned round, there was a packed out floor just rammed with people all the way to the back and up the stairs/on the balconies.
it was pretty epic for me considering i had seen them play a lot of underground gigs, but i think even more so for the band themselves.Wez4 literally couldnt believe it and was like a kid on xmas day or something.
they sold a fair amount of eps too.
aldo i was giving out a few of the dvds at this gigs so that was cool.we even merched some ie:free dvd with shirt/cd.
i'll put my clips up on here tomorrow.
Mutant:again, just better everytime.they go from awesome to awesome-er with each gig.
shame about the clumsy diver, but hey,at least Tom made the most of it by doing the claw, and some classic falsetto style theatrics.
the pit was insane and the circle became a vortex under the spell of Mutant.there were a few dives which was nice(as people were diving) but mainly annoying due to the fatc the divers didnt use the side steps in the first place.nevermind.still a spectacular gig.
Trigger The Bloodshed:i was outside catching my breath/recovering during this set so missed them, but if Wez4 says theyre good then i had better say the same lol.(you had to be there to get this joke)
Evile:although i prefer thrash with a more "party/dudish" kinda vibe, theres no denying that Evile are one of the best thrash bands in recent years to have delivered a real assaulting, relentless, brutalising machine of annihilation style of thrash.
i was pretty knackered from the Freshney/Mutant sets so initially stood and watched from the balcony, however,i just couldnt keep away for long as some of eviles tracks are just too energetic and get you so psyched up that you just have to rock along to them where the action is and be in the thick of it.
a great stage dive from Wez4/Lee4,who were backdtage, then just emerged from near the drumkit, only to run out past either side Matt and dive out in just their boxers.classic.
the pit was in full effect and the circle was a damn cyclone of energy.
one poor girl "got knocked the fuck out" by the pillar in the middle.she was literally unconscious and had to be dragged out of there and hoisted up the steps for some urgent medical attention.unfortunate, but it happens.
one of my highlights was linking up with Chris Caps from STD/sick to death,to headbang and then transform into a human bulldozer of mayhem.we literally lawnmowed the pit with 25 or so stone of force.2 are better than 1 so to speak.
thing is we barged so many people that we had to stop ourselves from falling on our carpet of unsuspecting prey lol.we stayed linked and it was also cool that we never fell(due to being linked/supporting half eachothers weight)
dives were thick and fast during evile, however when its the same pricks doing it every 2minutes it can be a nuisance.also the headbanging on stage with the band aka outstaying your welcome/knocking equipment, and visually ruining the show for the band and the crowd is really selfish.
a truly magnificant gig which turned out way better than i expected,on so many levels.
ukthrash is already bigger and better in 2009 and its only May.more of this please.
thanks to all forumers who i chatted with/accepted my dvd etc.
Thrashduck and Origamikid are real troopers to travel that far,and it was cool that so many more made it without fail ie:James and im sure theres 1 or 2 others.
anyway, after this gig i went back to Sigil Adams flat and partied(st.georges day excuse)till 5am,slept a few hours, got up,had a fry up from the cafe below, played xbox with him and his 2 flatmates(his girlfriend and his promoter mate)all afternoon.
went and got chicken deal, premierred the dvd then, partied till the early hours again.2nites in a row of beers and metal etc.had a few hours sleep then got up and helped Sigil with equipment and bussed our way to camden for the Damnas/Sigil/STD etc gig.
i now need a good, solid kip in my own bed...

I have to concur with this, 20 years ago you had about 5 seconds to get on and off the stage before some massive dude shoved you off the stage in to the crowd. Harsh but fair. I think that needs to come back with vengeance. While diving is cool standing on stage like a cock is just plain wrong!
It was a lot better when the bald guy that is always with Evile took on the role and just cleared all the losers off stage.

I agree, that is really irritating.

Back from the tour. Thanks to everyone who came out and gave us a listen.
also huge thanks to Mutant and Trigger for being so cool. good times.
still in the middle of writing the new material, and going into the studio on the 5th, learnt a few things about the new material we played from playing them live (what works, what doesnt etc).
roll on september.
