Gamer looks really good. The story and concept is awesome and just looks like a rather badass action flick.
District 9 looks incredible, Eric Blokamp is so dam good, did anyone see the Halo short he did for Microsoft that is a prequel to halo 3? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOvvKegdhRE Watch all of that, and just wish he was still doing the halo movie!!

Yeah, I can't imagine Arnie has a big cameo in it, but still the Expendable sounds like bloody hilarious good fun! I wonder if Arnie will make a return to films after his term is over?

Jeeyesus christ! Inglourious Basterds is incredible. Shitting hell! Brad Pitt is amazing and very bloody hilarious (especially in the Italian bit), and that guy who plays The Jew Hunter is fucking awesome as well. Tarantino has almost outdone himself! The best one since Pulp Fiction, and it shits all over Kill Bill and Death Proof, completely, and has one of the best Tarantino endings ever. Absolutely fucking amazing!

Re: Film Thread mk.II
Totally agree Jon! I watched it today and I really enjoyed it, there was a bit of everything, humour, tension, action and good characters and script. Tarantino is certainly a genius at coming up with these intertwined storylines.
The SS colonel totally stole the show for me, amazing acting and he was both an evil bastard but also strangely heroic in a warped sort of way. My favourite scene was the sequence in the basement where the agents met - there was loads of suspense, it was perfect.
Also, I thought the cinema owner woman was super hot.
I saw the trailer for District 9 too, I definitely want to watch that!

Yeah I saw that trailer too, my brain was going "alsdkjfhalsdkjfhalsdkjfa" everywhere. Your favourite scene was also one of mine too! It went on for sooo long but that's why it was so good, the tension was madness, and the pay-off was just completely amazing and almost made my heart burst out of my chest.
My other favourite scene was actually the very first one - that was a real amazing example of unbelievable tension building! And there was a bit that made me feel like I wanted to cry, without wanting to spoil it - that close up on the man's face as he was telling the things to the man after realising the madness (hopefully you know what I mean if you've seen it...), that bit was well christ almighty goodness me.
And my third favourite bit, for utter hilarity, was Brad Pitt pretending to be Italian - his 'accent' was probably the funniest thing I've seen him do ever. He was so awesome in this film!

Yeah he was relly good I thought, and the opening scene in the farmhouse was indeed brilliant. What an amazing scene to start the film with. It seemed that the atmosphere of nervous tension followed the Jew Hunter everywhere he went, e.g. even when eating strudel! Also, did you detect a bit of Austin Powers in Mike Myers' brief appearance? That must have been deliberate haha.

Haha, yeah, Mike Myers was amazing! That was one of the most hilarious scenes in the film. I didn't even realise it was him at first, until I realised the person he sounded like was Austin Powers, haha! Yeah, the bit with the strudel was brilliant. I can't remember what it was, but there was something in that scene that made the audience laugh quite a lot, and then as soon as the Jew Hunter stepped in, everyone just stopped laughing immediately! It was bloody incredible. At least I think it was that scene, it may have been another scene, but still that's what happened whenever it was!

I saw Inglorious Basterds last night and its actually amazing. James is right, the basement scene was shitting mental and when
Hitlers face get shot up
and they introduce some of the members of the basterds made me do a little wee.

Re: Film Thread mk.II
Thats actually a very good fake, i don't even think the script is finished yet. The Riddler seems the logical choice, villains like Killer Croc, clayface and poison ivy would be a bit too much of a stretch to fit into the realistic setting. Putting in Harlequin would be too similar to the Joker. Though hopefully if they chose the joker they have him be smart and a different villain as he is always been shown as similar to the Joker, Jim Carrey seemed more like the joker or Jim Carrey than the Riddler.
In regards to the whole remake thing its not that Hollywood is out of ideas but more of a fact that they know people will go see remakes and sequels. Compare this to an original film where unless it doesn't have some "name" attached it can be too much of a risk to make it. Which is a shame, they really should put some trust in young talent. For example Peter Jackson gave 30 million to Eric Blokamp to make whatever he wanted as the Halo film fell through, District 9 was the result.

Just got back from seeing District 9 with James. I rather liked it, interesting, original and very well put together. Just shows that you can make really good films without having stupidly large budgets and "stars"!

I find it quite hilarious though that these days "low budget" means $30 million.
Still, can't fucking wait to see District 9 though, it looks ruddy brilliant.
