I've actually never checked out a single Voivod track!

What are they like, and what is their best stuff?

Fucking nuts!

Get hold of Dimension Hatröss, lock your door, turn off the lights, put the record on and fucking melt your brain.

Repeat.

Theyre probably the least instant band on the planet, be warned.

You seriously seriously have to be kidding me! Voi Vod are amazing!

Voi Vod & RRROOOAAARRR are the thrashiest, Killing Technology & Dimension Hatross have a cleaner more technical sound, and along with Nothingface are classics. Angelrat was more psychedelic, The Outer Limits is okay, the two albums after that were rehashes of old glories and the last two records with Jasonic Newsted ain't bad.

Try KT as a start.

Hmmm, would anyone be interested in a homemade Best Of...?

What's their best album? I bought War and Pain I think and it didn't exactly hook me on them.

W&P is the most primitive, try either Killing Technology or Dimension Hatross next.

That riff in Forgotten in Space is great! Lots of cool moments.

All Voivod albums are worth having, as a fan of raw thrashy stuff, I would recommend Rrroooaaarr and Killing Technology, but Dimension Hatross and Nothingface are amazing technical metal/thrash/psychadelia! Even the stuff after that is good, but more straightforward and melodic. Piggy RIP

Voi Vod are utter dog shit!

Avoid this band and there so-called classic, Killing Technology, like a transexual who has the hots for you!

And as an added deterrant for y'all south of Hadrian's Wall, the band members speak French!

I wonder if it's such enlightened opinions which stop all the major bands touring North of the border

Anyways I would echo the previous sentiments re Dimension Hatross and Killing Technology. But don't bother with anything after Nothingface (which is worth hearing just for the cover of Floyd's Astronomy Domine).
