I'm not there cause I didn't get home til 7am and spent all day in bed.

That was a really good night, despite a total Pagan Altar disaster - their drummer was stuck in traffic and they only came on for TWO SONGS... I've never felt more disappointed at a gig! I feel robbed of what promised to be another legendary set (they played Pagan Altar and Lords of Hypocrisy, which sounded great... even with Rich Walker back on guitar!). Hopefully see them again soon.

HOWEVER, Cloven Hoof quickly made up for it with a flawless set as usual; again it was a bit on the short side (shitty 10:30 curfew!!) but we got lots of classics including Mistress of the Forest (the highlight for me), Gates of Gehenna, Astral Rider, etc. That was the first time I've seen them with Christian of Dark Forest as well, and I was totally impressed, he fits in perfectly.

Elixir were enjoyable too, though some of their new material sounded quite dull. Missed Bitches Sin, but saw most of Celtic Legacy - thought they were OK, but a bit uninspired (despite a monstrous guitar tone).

All in all, well worth the journey! Where the hell were the UK Thrashers?!

I was in bed watching lots of The League of Gentlemen and eating humous. Glad you had a good night though!

I was there last night. I just wish someone could have made a decision earlier about the Pagan Altar situation. The obvious thing was to get Cloven Hoof on and play their whole set and then get Pagan Altar on later for a truncated set at the end, i.e. more than two numbers. But, nobody could agree, or make a decision on it, and then it was too late to do anything about it. The least they could have done was announce it to the crowd!!

What they played was great, even if the Al's lead guitar work was being drowned out. At least I wasn't as disappointed as a guy who had travelled all the way over from Australia to see Pagan Altar play.

I agree with the Elixir comment. Since the band has moved to rely on newer material, written since their comeback, it has been a less potent outfit. Where has all the galloping energy gone. They still have it, as was displayed by corking opener, "Star of Beschan". However, it seems they just want to write mid-tempo average Metal tunes these days. As good as they are, the band can do a lot better!

I saw Bitches Sin, and had a similar grumble with them - only two old numbers in their set. The rest was off the comeback album and a new song. I wanted to hear the old classics, even if the new numbers were played excellently.

Cloven Hoof was great, as expected.

was a great gig....dissapointed about pagan altar i literally took a sip of my beer and they were done, but they will probably play again . Elixer's classics were ace...not too sure about the new stuff........really wished they could of played pandora's box, what an amazing song, with a great guitar solo in the beginning.....but oh well. Overall really great, Bitches sin rocked, there was a crazy aura about them, obviously more older stuff woulda been better....but meh you don't get to see these band everyday!
