Anyone else use Emulators? Such fun!

Ahhh Contra eh! This was originally called Super Probotector in England. This is one of my favourite games of all time. I can complete it on hard without using a continue, because I'm a fucking nerd. A FUCKING NERD!

I've seen it done, my mate is a total Contra nerd as well. He's manic at the game.

I prefer Total Carnage (sequel to Smash TV) myself, it's actually impossible to do some bits of that game without a turbo pad.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Atom/Gorebastard if you love contra then check this out.
basically Contra + Shinobi = Hagane.
FACT:robots and ninjas are cool.
i had this game for a short while on snes and even though it was extra cool(including the boxart),it was insanely difficult,i tried patiently ridiculous amount of times to get to stage 3 but to no avail so i ended up ebaying it then watched the full playthroughs and speedruns on youtube instead.

about emulators:
PROS:-play rare games and save money.
-tool assisted ie:extra lives/continues/weapons etc makes them more enjoyable/actually achievable.

CONS: -you dont get the authentic feel of owning the original cart/box/manual/maps etc.
-RPG games tend to have glitches or memory problems(my brothers mate found out the hard way on a few)
-using the tool assisted features to the max ie:invincibility/infinate ammo/level select(unless youve passed the levels before it)all this makes you a CHEAT in my opinion.

i still think the Wii virtual console is the better option for playing old classics.

Yeah tell me about glitches, i am still yet to find a fully working version of Legend Of The Super Sayan on the Snes. I've been through so many that i really can't be bothered with them any more.

For me having an emulator gives me something quick and easy to fire up on my pc and it's something that i can just put down.

Basically i love them.

I know the guy who designed the SuperFX chip and he knows why the emulators don't emulate the Chip 100% and he wont tell them why.... he's evil like that. It's really simple as well but they will never find it.

Yeah man it's a piece of piss when you use the weapon swapping technique. You want to get yourself the Crash Missiles (C on the weapon thingy) on each gun, then as you're firing one burst of them, quickly swap weapon with X and fire the other gun. Keep doing this so you get a constant stream of 6 missiles instead of the usual 3 that you get with each gun. It works best with the Crash Missiles because they're strong as fuck. It's good with other guns too, but that's the best tip I can give. It hurts your fingers at first because your hand is in a different position to keep hammering the X button, but once the cramp wears off, you'll kick it's arse on Hard. The only level that gives me shit where I lose a couple of lives are the first level, and the last one BUT you get so many extra lives for kicking arse on 1 player that it doesn't matter.

Let me know how you get on, I could fucking talk about this game all day. I grew up playing it constantly. One time, me and my mate completed it 13 times in a row. Literally! Awesome times!!

Alas, we're not going to hear from Tom for months now. Even as I type he is weaving a protective chrysalis about himself and his computer, from which he will emerge one day in the distant future wielding abnormally dextrous fingers of power, metamorphosed by hour after ritualistic hour of retro gameplay; and all shall tremble and despair.

Haha, genius James!

Well, I did know about the weapon swapping, my main problem is that the controls are difficult because I'm using a keyboard, not a controller and I can't reconfigure them. The button which enables you to stand still and fire is particularly hard to reach, especially in a moment when you need to use it quickly.

I can get to the missile/zeppelin boss.
