NEC FEB 14TH
WARNING: SETLIST SPOILERS
What better way to spend Valentines night than away from the missus in the company of three top bands?
TESTAMENT
Due to a few minor hold-ups and queues, I missed the first track (Over the Wall) but what I did see was quite super (apart from the bass heavy mix anyway). Everyone on top form and enjoying themselves, just a shame so much got lost in the muddy sound. 7/10
Over the Wall
The New Order
More Than Meets the Eye
The Persecuted Won't Forget
DNR
Three Days in Darkness
Practice What You Preach
The Formation of Damnation
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MEGADETH
I've always maintained if you've seen Megadeth once you've seen them a hundred times but with a slightly different set list. Nothing's changed. They're (he's) still as slick and professional as ever but you always get the feeling he's just out to get a job done. Not the greatest of sets either I must add, although their sound was considerably better than Testament.
7/10
Sleepwalker
Wake Up Dead
Take No Prisoners
Tout Le Monde
Washington is Next
She Wolf
In My Darkest Hour
Hangar 18
Symphony of Destruction
Peace Sells...
-------------------------
Skin of My Teeth
Holy Wars
---------------------------------------------------------------------
JUDAS PRIEST.
"It's 2009 and the Priest is BACK"! And once again you can't argue with the man. Great show. Nothing more to say.
9/10
Prophecy
Metal Gods
Eat Me Alive
Between the Hammer and the Anvil
Devil's child
Breaking the Law
Hell Patrol
Death
Dissident Aggressor
Angel
Electric Eye
Rock Hard Ride Free
Sinner
Painkiller
---------------------
Hellbent for Leather
The Green Manalishi
---------------------
You've Got Another Thing Comin'

What a shame Megadeth aren't playing Tornado of Souls and are doing bloody A Toute Le Stupid Monde instead. Idiots. They're such idiots.

They may still play Tornado of Souls at some of the other shows. I know they did at Dublin.

You could hear a collective groan as she wolf kicked in.
Plus, you can sing along in a girl voice to A tout le monde and pretend it's the new version.
Bass players (or people who aren't blind), see if you can spot the make of the megadeth bass guys (I cant be arsed learning deth names nowadays) orange guitar that he only uses for hangar 18. The tone was amazing.

James Lomenzo plays Warwick/Fender basses so you could try nosing on the Warwick site as it looked more like one of those than a Fender:

Re: Judas Priest, Megadeth, Testament UK tour
holy
fucking
shit
what an epic night. Testament opened stuff up well (despite thier sound being worse then the other 2 bands) played amazingly and ... JOE I TOLD YOU!! THEY PLAYED SOULS OF BLACK. I went nuts for that!!
Megadeth almost stole the show. They came on and everythin went nuts. They played a very tight set and she wold was dam good live and alot of songs went down far better then i expect from the crowd (which i must add had a fucking huge generation gap!!) They were just intense, they really were.
Now Priest....well....no words can describe.
They litterally destroyed everything and on top of that i think they played the loudest set i have ever been to. The bass drum and bass guitar were painful almost for first two songs but then calmed down a bit (ie: killed my ears ahaha) and i must say that Halford is getting better.
Compared to when i saw em in Italy in June 08...this fucking ownd it. Halford hit notes better, got higher and really explored the songs in ways he hasnt for years!
Brill set, will post more after i wake up from collapsing after 4 days on the go!
