I can't believe this is happening - "On Saturday, hundreds of emos are planning to march on the Daily Mail's headquarters in protest at the newspaper's coverage of their subculture. The tabloid has labelled emo a "suicide cult" which glorifies self-harm and "romanticises death" - a charge vociferously denied by most emos."

They deserve a marching on, but the fact that it takes "emos" to do it is a bit shit.

Hmm, considering there's a black metal band called 'Make a Change... Kill Yourself', I'd say emo lyrics are perhaps small potatos by comparison.

But I will agree and say as far as I know this blows things way out of proportion. Even emo kids aren't so conformist they feel the need to join a cult... at least as far as I can tell...

As previously mentioned, its obvious that these people can't accept there are genuine mental problems. I don't think its music that causes them either, that is a scapegoat. And besides outside 'emo' music, depression rates have been growing outside it in quite significant numbers. I won't try to hazard a guess as to how it is, but some theories believe it could be people spending too much time in front of computer screens and playing videogames therefore not learning to socialise properly. However I have no idea if this is true without proper psychological analysis and for now, it may just sound like another scapegoat for the media until more proof arises.
