I've finally bitten the bullet and ordered my very own Fender American Standard Precision Bass V - in "Candy Cola" finish. I'm also getting my hands on a set of Lace Aluma-P pickups, as I seriously love the clarity and punch on my Akai bass.
I really really can't wait, I've heard nothing but good things about it. I know I generally have preferred 4-strings, but I wanted to justify it by going for something different, and I've always wanted a Precision, ergo both itches have been scratched and I now have a reason for owning two basses, as both have different functions.
I do still have an Ibanez EDA900 to get rid of (Dave!) but I'll shift it when I can be arsed.
But yeah, expect sexy pictures in the next few weeks
So ... I'm finally getting a P-Bass!

The pickups have been changed from stock to Lace Alumitone AlumaP's - and they sound absolutely incredible, and will sound even better once I get a set of flatwound strings on there. I do need to get a custom pickguard cut though, as the stock pickups are slightly different sizes (the top one is a tad longer to take the extra string, but the Aluma-P's can fit 4, 5 and 6-string basses, just rotated).
Very very happy with it, and love the finish, it's officially called Candy Cola

They were both placed very slowly and carefully, and picked up very slowly and carefully, so there's no marks on either

5 string basses are an abomination in the eyes of the gods of music. Remove one string immediately !

To be honest, I can't think of any band whose music is substantially improved by a 5 string bass..... but that no doubt makes me an uneducated fogey.

Taste is subjective.
