theres a bit of a scene, thrash is raising its head and theres alot of bands, but its dead becouse most places rather hire a dj couse its cheaper, plus most places when they do put up a gig its for some scremo or crapcore bands, then theres the theres the smallish "metal festival type things" where they try to mix punk metal and emo bands all onto the same bill, it can also be pretty hard finding info on whats happening, at least thats what its like in melb, lots of bands just no where much to play, the whole thing needs a good kick up the bum to get going, at least thats what its like in melb, dont know much bout how things are in the other states

yo dude, i fuckin love some of the aussie underground bands destroyer 666, destruktor, vomitor, gospel of the horns, assaulter, ignivomous...... i could go on forever! the aussies that i have spoke 2 all say there scene is shite but i think it is down to your country being so fuckin big! with all the fans and bands are really spread out it must be hard tryin to get everyone together for a show. In england were never more than a few hours drive or train ride away from each other so it makes it a lot easier for bands to gig, our scene still aint that great though, haha.

cheers, tom.

nah its not that wher spread out to thin, most of the population are in or near the major citys, the problem is the venues they dont wana hire real bands, they prefer dj's couse its cheaper, i dont know what its like over in the UK but here some bands actually have to pay the venue owners in order to play there its fucking bullshit, theres lots of bands fuckloads of fans but fuck all places to play, my dad was playing back in the 70's and 80's and there use to be hundreds of venues to play at, you could littraly turn up to a joint a few hours before opening and ask the owner if he needed a band and be on stage that very night

im not saying we dont have good bands, we've got tons of quality bands here, theres just no support from promoters and venue owners for the local scene

When it comes to Aussie thrash, the only bands you nee dto know are Mortal Sin, Destroyer 666, Hobb's Angel of Death and Slaughter Lord.

So if there are good local bands and good local fans why not kick something off yourself? That seems a bit easier then shipping a load of bands over from another continent ;)

I'm sure peeps on here would give you a pointer on how to set it up and you might see pay-for-play in a new light.
