Very Rare Technical UK Thrash Band

Postby ThrashMetalRiffs on Tue Jul 27, 2010 4:24 pm

To save ThrasherDave a trip to the Destruction board, I think I have a rare band that may have passed him by and certainly many of the board members.
Inner Sanctum were from Lowestoft in the UK and I think this lot were recorded in 1993 roughly. An undiscovered gem (And no, it's not my band). They have also opened for classic era Exodus!
This is very, very rare technical thrash:-
Inner Sanctum on MySpace
Enemy Unseen, A Brief Madness, Poverty of Interlect and Excursion from my senses are standouts.
The drumming on Regression is also world class!

Also a rare live instrumental from them on a european tour:-
Inner Sanctum - Mentality

You'll need to turn volume high on this vid. Quality not great but wrth it.

The mucisianship was a very high standard!
I live about 20 miles from them and never got to see em. Gutted!

1993? Man these guys arrived late as hell didn't they!

Sound quality is questionable but not too bad. Nice find.

I know these guys very well, and used to be in regular contact with them via their manager, Karen Gooch. I was at the support slot gig to Exodus, at the Marquee, too.

I think I have at least 5 of their demos knocking about. The 3 I can see immediately are "Sensorium", "Knowledge at Hand" & "VI Questions". The other demos were "Fear is Life's Blood" (1990), "Static Veins" (1991) & "Shine" (1992). They became less thrashy with each release.

They later transformed into Fifth Season, which was a continuation of the later Inner Sanctum sound - big time influenced by Dream Theatre (they even covered "Peruvian Skies". They released an album called "Journey through an Open Mind" in 97ish.

Lucky git. I hear even the mighty exodus were impressed on the night.

I went to a pub in Lowestoft one Saturday in the distant past. A metal band were playing apparently. It was Fifth Season. I was completely blown away. They were so tight as musicians. Brilliant live band. And they did a wicked cover of Raining Blood!
