Euro coins have a side-profile of a cock and balls on them. There's no chance I'm using the correct term for them.

and returns London-Sheffield for £20 or less if bought at the right time - advance tickets are the way to go.
Still, short distance journeys can prove to be stupidly expensive for what they are.

yea thats another thing. I couldnt book advance tickets because the train companies dont take visa electron cards (which are accepted just about everywhere else) It's a fookin' disgrace.

Yeah that is ludicrous, why the hell would the entire train network be unable to process Visa Electron?!? :wall:

it's also very annoying when you're late for a train but you have to get cash out instead of paying with a card.

Do you think it's purely so that their coins don't have a cock and balls on them? You'd have thought someone would have picked up on that fairly early on in the design stage...

Amazing.

I was going to say, they should have just done a map of Europe and shaded in the ones not in the EU. Even then that's going to be a bit of a pain in the arse when more countries accede to the EU.

yeah, and I have to walk all the way to the train station and back with cash or my maestro card to get tickets.
because their online booking system doesn't work with maestro cards even though it specifies that they take maestros online. And the online thing didn't work with my friends visa card either.

On the last train to Lichfield after a Reanimator gig, we stood up to get off at Lichfield city, the lights on the buttons came on... and just as we pressed them (literally as soon as we stopped) the lights turned off again, the doors wouldn't open and we ended up at the next stop which is further out of the way.
We got off there and told the train bloke that they'd not let us off and we needed to go back, and he was a complete prick. So we were left at the wrong stop at like midnight trying to get in touch with someone to pick us up there. And then the fucking train went back in the direction we came.
