Absu have a new album out, and they're playing some European fests this year! I really hope they make it to the UK too, I would be there in a flash.
Absu call themselves "mythological occult metal", although it's basically a crazy mix of thrash-spirited riffs and killer extreme metal; also, the drummer is a total mad-man, and he's also the vocalist. Their last album was 'Tara' in 2001, and it was an absolute behemoth. The new one gets 9.5 and Album of the Month in Terrorizer (for what it's worth). Features more Chris Verwimp art too, which rules.
Seriously check them out, it's great there are still bands playing material that wouldn't have sounded out of place in the early 90s. Killer band.
Here's a track off Tara:
THRAAAAAAAASH!!!!
And a CRAZY promo vid of another Tara track:
RIFFS!!!
These guys are nutters.

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Fuck off James, what did I even bloody do. Shit the bloody hell off.
Billy is known for his hatred of death metal, and the start of that first video is very death metal.

Re: ABSU return!
It's hard to categorise but like I said I think the dominant riffery is essentially thrash! But the extreme drums and vocals give it a brilliant edge.
Lev - sorry, thought you were generally dissing Absu for no reason, apparently not.
