That's just it! If you harken your mind back to 1984 Mr Caps, you'll remember the quote that goes something along the lines of "The best books are the ones that tell you what you already know." And that applies to other things. It just completely amazed me that something like that was said with such true conviction in a prime time programme on BBC1! It was everything that I already felt, but expressed in such a better way to a much larger number of people! And now I've got even more respect for Gervais than I already had for making that move.

Yeah well said Jon - one of my favourite parts of his Big Brother speech was when he said how "the media says it's what the public wants - no it isn't! If it went away, they'd just get on with their lives". I really agree, and just wish the frenzy over celebrities would go away forever.

Indeed, unbelievable. And the first time (I've watched it two-and-a-half times now and it's still amazing) I heard him say "And fuck you to the makers of this programme", it really made me start to well up inside, just to hear someone like him say it in this particular situation, everything about that whole moment, just really made me feel unbelievable. And you could hear how passionate he was about what he was saying too, which made it even better.
