Yeah, the 'twist' is definitely not unexpected by any means, but it is indeed a great film! I have to watch it again actually, I haven't seen it for years.

Danny Boyle's 'Sunshine' is quite a similar space madness experience actually, have you seen that film? The concept sounds ridiculous at first (the sun is dying and some space men/women are sent to throw a nuclear bomb at the sun to reignite it), but apparently it's very well researched, and I have to say it's a fucking brilliant film. More classy and less cheesy than Event Horizon, although there are lots of similar bits. It also tries to be more realistic (as realistic as it can be!), so nothing to do with hell or anything like that, just mad space psychological madness. Although it does get mental at the end, which is where the twisty part comes in. Actually it really is a great film, all the amazing bits are coming back to me now! Brilliant music too. Watch Sunshine!

almost gonna watch it
because when I click in the IMDB page,
I found it starring Michelle Yeoh
then now I'm watching another one,
Babylon AD, also starring Michelle Yeoh , and Vin Diesel

my next movie will be Sunshine then, since you recommend it

it's not bad, worth a single watch , with a little minor plot hole
but it's great, plus starring Lucy Liu, if u like her, she's hot in that one

I agree that The Mist's ending wasn't a plot twist but it had guts (the short story ends with them just hiding out and waiting) so much so that when me and Bill saw it some woman ended up complaining! haha

Right plot twists. One of the earliest one's is from the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari but it is a silent 20's film so not everyone's cup of tea. The Wicker man has a pretty good twist but it builds up over the course of the story so it's not totally out of the blue, Angel Heart with De Niro and Mickey Rourke and Jacobs Ladder come to mind.

Though most twists are the "Then they woke up", my favourite being Nightmare City where essentially the guy wakes up and everything starts happening again exactly the same, re-played footage, and the words "Then the nightmare became reality" appears and fade to black!
