Ah this thread brings back memories  Both my big toenails have been ingrowing, but I think it was when I was 16 or something now, a long time ago. I remember the pus ridden crust stage, it was FUN until it started to really hurt. Got me out of school sports for ages though.

Anyway first time I went to the hospital to have it taken out. Just pliered the whole thing out they did and put this shit on it to stop it growing back the same....

...this is where the real fun started. It didn't grow back the same, hell, it didn't grow back the same at all. My right toe just became a big really THICK toenail. That doesn't cause me any bother but it needs a trim every now and again like any toenail, apart from instead of nail clippers I have to use pliers because it's about __ that thick.

The real real fun came when my left one got ingrowing. Instead of waiting for the hospital this time, I just had it done at my local surgery. Quick local anaesthetic (which didn't really fucking work, this hurt like HELL) and they pulled it out, then cauterised my wound with what looked just like a fucking soldering iron, I could smell my own flesh burning :( only this time the doctor didn't put the not grow-back stuff on it. So it grew back not ingrowing but sort of fucked up and vertical and really painful.

So with my left toe every so often I had to trim it like the other, but I got pissed off because it didn't make it much better, so instead I just resorted to pulling it out again periodically. I'd sit in front of a good comedy to make myself laugh, down half a beaker full of whiskey, then just TUG with pliers  because it was all sort of a mess down there anyway there was never excess blood but damn it was painful. I'd do that every 6 months or so.

However, this summer I had a better idea and bought a Dremel Rotary Grinder \m/ so now I just grind both my toenails into relatively acceptable shapes, and it works pretty well. No more pulling for me!

Anyway Mutom, I hope your toe experiences end better than mine did  whatever you do, try not to get 2 of the fuckers!

Fuck man... That makes my toe experience seem flawless!

Its in the healing stage now, I have to change the dressings every two days and they cut a hole in a pair of my high tops so I can walk properly!

Maybe I should buy myself a grinder? :D

Just got the fucker removed! Now I need to wait for it to grow back and I will be able to mosh again!

I tried to film it but it was over before I knew it, the worst part was the injections but it looked so gnarly...

They loosened the nail with a chisel thing then twisted it out with a pair of pliers, it looked fucking sick!!!

I just hope it never happens again!

Fuck, I had one of those bastards a few years ago, but luckily I didn't have to see it removed, I had some antibiotics and had strict instructions to bathe the big puss filled toe in salt water a couple of times a day, and it worked! The bastard thing was that I had it all through Reading and Bloodstock 2003, it was especially a cunt at Bloodstock as our campsite was a billion miles away from the venue and my friends were bastards and wouldn't listen to me and made me walk a billion miles everywhere, and it fucking killed. Bastards! When they have ingrowing toenails, I'm going to stamp on the fucker! I won't really because I'm such a nice man, but that's what I'd like to do anyway.

Oh well, glad your toe's okay now, Atom!

Cheers man but my toe isnt better by a loooong shot.

Today I had to redress it and the old manky dressing had hardened with crusty puss onto my raw big toe (not having a nail SUCKS) and was stuck there... It was fucking agony trying to pull it off so I soaked my toe in saline solution and it eventualy came loose after I teased it for half an hour, I have to do that every other day!

And there is a chance the nail will be fucked forever, please everyone, keep my toe in your thoughts.
