Favourite Metal Genre (apart from thrash)
What's your fav metal genre? I'd probably choose traditional black as that draws a lot of elements from thrash, but I like quite a few death and power metal bands too. It's not heard to guess what will get the least votes.

Such a close call between Death and Heavy metal.... I prefer more HM bands though, but power metal is soooo good too...

Death Metal for me, but i only like certain Death metal bands. Not so keen on the overly fast shit like Cannibal Corpse or Deicide. I prefer more refined stuff like early Death or Obituary.

Too hard to call really. I love my Speed/Power stuff that's almost Thrash, e.g. Abattoir, Iced Earth, Metal Church but also love early, Thrashy Death Metal, e.g. Death, Deicide, Infernal Majesty, Invocator. I also love Heavy Metal, Angel Witch, Maiden, Saxon. Even some Hair Metal if I'm in the mood for a laugh and/or need to do the hoovering.
The only genre I don't like is Black Metal...
EDIT: I LOATHE any genre which has the 'core' suffix or the 'Melodic' prefix.

Totally agree with the Black Metal comment Iain. I think it is more "Comedy" metal than "Black".

If by 'Comedy' you mean 'Gash' then you're bang on!

i went for heavy metal but i do love alot of power metal too, hell i'm not gonna lie there is a fair bit of "metalcore" i like to, but the way ive always seen it is that metalcore isnt truely from metal its a progression from hardcore but i find genre placement really pisses me off

Had to vote for heavy metal, it's not often I dislike a NWOBHM band that's been highly recommended. I love some death metal as well, but some of that's edging on thrash and there's certainly some lauded death metal I don't like.
I thought this meant black metal for a minute. Can't enjoy it at all.
