It is the worst one yet, but when used properly, it's a good source of information. People who use it 25 times a day to update when they're having a bath should be punched though.

Aye, information as in, useful information from proper websites and news and such or people doing something that's actually interesting, not someone eating a sweet.

The fact twitter has become so popular in the last few months is beyond me...apparently famous people "use" it but they just get PR people to do it.

Yep me too. I said id never join Facebook and im on there. Twitter just seems stupid though.

I've been using twitter personally (http://twitter.com/dazzawazza) for nearly two years now and on NMA (http://twitter.com/newmetalarmy) for 6 or 7 months. I started before the celebrities as a facebook refugee. If you read the press it's all about self promotion but that's only partially true.

For me it's the status bar from Myspace and Facebook but without all the bullshit of an entire website full of addon's, walls, plugins, punching monkeys etc. I use a desktop app (http://www.twhirl.org/) which turns twitter into a sort of low bandwidth group MSN chat between all of my friends.

It's easy to say 'why would I want to do that' but ALL the arguments levelled against twitter are the same old arguments levelled against MySpace and then FaceBook and then Bebo and then Orkut and then....

Anyway, if you're in a band and you have fans then they might want to follow you so you have no choice really.... unless you want to ignore your fans? I've heard fans aren't a problem for a lot of bands around here
