Anyone a fan of these guys? New songs sound ripping!

SAURON "Satanic Assassins" CD (BREW021)
The "Lords Of Slaughter And Warfare" are at it again and their sophmore campaign demonstrates they mean business. Carried by a chainsaw bass that has been sorely missing in Metal since the glorious days of SLAUGHTER and VOIVOD (though ORDER FROM CHAOS did come close...) and driven by relentless drums, blistering guitar and roaring vocals this most basic of all possible band line-ups rips through the 7 songs of this album like a Demonic "Possession". If you like the dark, chaotic and haunting side of Thrash Metal you can't go wrong here. Released on Witches Brew in December 2008.

I really like what I've heard of Sauron, though still haven't got any of their releases. These new tracks sound really solid too - there need to be more good Lord of the Rings bands!

No. Just... no.

Lord of the Rings was alright. I really didn't mind it. I think it's one of the better 'Braveheart but bigger' CG films that we have been bombarded with for so long now. However, having songs and entire bands based on Lord of the Rings is gay. As fuck.

Wrong. Sorry, but you're out of the game.

God Lord of the Rings is too good. Im just hoping The Hobbit film is as good as the book, and as good as the LOTR films.

At my uni house we did a marathon watching all 3 extendeds back to back... but I kind of fell asleep. I still haven't sat and watched the entire extended versions. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they make of The Hobbit, but apparently filming isn't even starting till 2010 :(

I've watched them all back to back. Eleven hours ten minutes (666 minutes if you want to be gash), is a bloody long time to watch movies.

The hobbit will be sexy, as it's another trilogy, so they can fit all the book in. Lovely, splendid, superb.

Who'd have actually read the books if it weren't for the films?

Exactly.

Honestly, I remember my mate reading them when we were in Primary Four (we'd have been seven or eight years old, so 1994-ish). I was really surprised he wasn't sectioned when persistently doing his impression of Smeagol. Years later, when the films came out, he did get to point out all the flaws in them but no one really seemed to care to be honest.

I do remember trying to read the Hobbit at around the same time but thinking all the singing and dancing was a bit... silly.

Yeah the songs are quite unnecessary.
