I always wear earplugs. If I forget to bring them to a show I just make ones with wet tissue paper. I don't wear them when I'm playing live though.

I generally wear those shitty wotsits style ear plugs at rehearsals, but when it's live I prefer without.

Might get the ones Jon was talkin about, might even be a bit cheaper off Ebay.

I bought some from a drum shop years ago, which sound like the ones Jon described - clear plastic with a tiny whole through them - but the packet said they were meant for surf boarders and I didn't give them enough chance to see if they really did anything.

Where i practice, wearing ear plugs does the sound wonders. Everything sounds great. Its a mess without them because of the acoustics. When playing gigs i dont like wear them because i want to hear the moniters propperly.

Watching gigs i do without them. I like gigs when they are loud.

I have been meaning to get a pair for some time, i am tired of hearing that whining after gigs that is the all assuring sound that part of my ears are dying.

Edit: I also work at an airport and planes are fucking loud like.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

Nice signature. UK Rape would be better still, though.

I'm actually quite pleased with how my hearing is bearing up. All my other senses are well and truly buggered now but my hearing is like that of a cat, i.e. fucking brilliant, despite the 'decibel abuse' or whatever you'd call it of the past five-ten years. If anything, it's just not hearing the backing vocals and solos at, for example, a W.A.S.P. gig that has annoyed me in the past.

The shittest thing about wearing ear plugs at gigs is that if you want to 'sing' along, you can hear your voice in your head. And then you're wondering if the people around you can hear you too. Which, in my case, would be shit for everyone. :eyes:

Singing in public is horrible no matter the circumstance. I literally have a phobia from it because I laugh at anything. My piano teacher at school about gutted me for laughing at a the way my mate was singing. I had to sing in Latin at my graduation yesterday and there was a lyric that said 'molestam'.

Everyone laughed.
