Theres some chuckle bits as i said the scary door bit and the bits in the robot mental asylum, though theres a lord of the rings rip off which the writer didn't really know what to do with. Looking it up the guy who has wrote the movies seems to of only done one episode before that was the one when bender enters the fembot olympics.

That sounds as unfortunate as me losing my ability to shriek like a woman.

It bugs me that so few people know how to judge an episode of the Simpsons. It's quite simple really: all you have to do is compare it to Homer At the Bat (the softball episode). That's probably my favourite episode of all time. Last Exit to Springfield (the one when Homer is made President of the union) is up there too.
Don't forget the one when Homer goes to Clown College, and the one when Flanders opens the Leftorium and Homer wishes him to go out of business. Classics.

Homer At The Bat has its moments but it's not the best ever. Deep Space Homer, and like Gorebastard said Homie The Clown are two right up there.

Fool!
Homer At the Bat is nigh on untouchable. The song at the end is just one example of how good it is. I have to say I did like Homie the Clown too just because Krusty is, along with Burns, Homer and Skinner, my favourite character.

Re: FUTURAMA
Going back to Family Guy for a minute, I do find it funny, I just consider it a major flaw that you don't really care about the characters. This is also the big problem is most newer Simpsons episodes. For example, the most recent ones I've seen, Homer is just cruel, wheras once he was just a loveable idiot who had anger management problems and occaisionally didn't see the other person's point of view. The stories meanwhile are annoyingly far fetched showcasing the problems of what happens when a series runs for too long, the ideas dry up. Earlier Simpsons episodes felt more like incidents that COULD happen to real families, which I believe added something to the popularity as it sort of showed what happened with many families behind the scenes, if you know what I mean. Of course humour is the most important aspect and I'm sorry if I'm being over analytical here, just the way I see it.
Futurama meanwhile is allowed to be as weird as it likes, being set in a sci-fi setting, but we still care about the characters, in addition to the show not having dried up of ideas, at least not as far as I know, I still haven't seen many later episodes. But that is the impression I get.
