Of course i have watched every bond film, I was 9 once. Plus they have been on every Christmas since forever.
Now let me break down the points.
1) Why does the fact that a film is relevant to it's time? That does not mean it is a good film, i would much rather watch One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest that a modern film going on about Afghanistan rebels having a nuke or some other semi plausible plot. I would even go as far as to say that the plot being about communists is just some flimsy propaganda attempt. Don't fear the Soviets massive stockpiles of nuclear weapons and standard munitions all pointed this way. As we have M15 and some deranged satyriasist running about to fend them off.
2) I will give you this one, whilst i do think bond is shit, i still have to admit that at least the stunts were real as opposed to this ultra reality we are fed these days.
3) i can see the same women (usually at least) in other films that do not make me want to rip off my own leg and beat the telly till it is dead.
As i see it bond is the refuse of people with 15 year olds syndrome. By that i mean people who get the same from bond films that 15 year old boys do from whatever banal excretions called "action films" they have been pumping out since Arnie grew old and flaccid and wanted to run hyperboria... i mean California.

1) The fact that a film is relevant to the time in which it was made doesn't instantly make it good. However, James Bond has proved to be a pretty good means of informing our generation about the Cold War. Sure you have Rambo II and III and Rocky IV, but they were basically propaganda films. From Russia With Love deals with relatively unknown issues. The fact that film is based on the idea of a SMERSH plot is, in my opinion, pretty cool. Similarly The Living Daylights highlighted foreign support of the Mujahideen has repercussions that can still be seen today. Bond films stop short of being propaganda films in the sense that Stallone films were because the Cold War tends to provide more of a setting for a story that is pretty far removed from it. For example, For Your Eyes Only really doesn't seem like a film about the Cold War until Bond says to the Soviet General at the end, 'That's détente - you don't have it; we don't have it'. Of course, all of this means nothing if, unlike me (I quite like history), you don't really care about history of the 20th century...
2) Aye, Bond is brilliant for stunts. In Thunderball they actually designed and built a jet pack that could be flown by someone. They wouldn't even consider trying that today; it'd go straight to the CD fags. I was watching an advert for I Am Legend a minute ago and the films seems to have CG wolves. I don't see why a stunt man can't just work with normal wolves.
3) Yes, but in which film franchise can you see that? Alien, Mad Max, Planet of the Apes, Rocky, Superman, Terminator? Nope, only Bond. In other words, Bond is so great that it has become synonymous with amazing snatch. This trend shall continue with Olga Kurylenko, who I must say I would not mind climbing into and swimming around.
I will never out-grow Bond films because it is basically what I grew up on. The first film, be it to cater for children or adults, I remember seeing was A View To A Kill. As a result I've always had a thing for Duran Duran and I still love watching it as much now as I did then. Mind you, Christopher Walken is just super-good number one. Even if A View To A Kill had been shit, which is impossible because it isn't, Christopher Walken would have made it good just because he was also in The Deer Hunter and got a chance to snog Meryl Streep.
She was a choice cut of gant back then.

A View To A Kill is brilliant and so is Christopher Walken. That was my favourite Bond when I was bit a small boy. And god I love that theme song.

Not all of the Bond films are amazing; the last two Brosnan films were incredibly dire.
And yes, the A View To A Kill theme tune was so good that it got to No. 1 in the UK and No. 2 in the US.

Bond is rather win, I haven't sat and watched a bond film since about 5 years ago, when the last Brosnan film was at the cinema, wasn't that good though really... Probably won't watch the latest one until it comes to telly!!!
I can't even remember which film was my fave.... I used to love ALL of the old ones, even the ones that were pretty crap!

Exactly. Casino Royale was the best one in ages.
Still nowhere near as good as the Bourne trilogy though.

Though I do like the Bourne Trilogy, it has major flaws that are accentuated by comparisons to Bond. This close-quarter martial arts bullshit is the main one. I mean, looks lads, stop fucking chopping at each other's wrists and someone deliver a kick to the bollocks. That'll get him down quicker than stabbing him in the hand with a Biro. A more niggling one is the way the films were actually filmed. The fight sequences are filmed too close-up and the camera work is generally shoddy. I'm told it's to add a degree of realism to the fights. That's great when you can actually see what's going on; otherwise, not so much.
And, aye, Casino Royale was good compared to the Bonds since Goldeneye. But, in no way, is it is good as it's made out to be. Basically, the powers that be really need to look at what they did with License To Kill and then apply their findings to the new film. An actor that is as well read in Ian Flemming as Dalton goes a long way too...

Aye, I quite like Matt Damon's films in general.
To be honest, The Bourne Trilogy has provided semi-decent action films in a world of CG lions and polar bears. Yeah, I would rather watch Raging Bull than The Bourne Ultimatum, but I'd rather watch The Bourne Ultimatum than 300 or something equally gant.

Re: UK Thrash Compilation
I think i could go the rest of my life watching about ten films.
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Taxi Driver
Big Trouble In Little China
Predator
The Terminator
Conan 1
The Thing
Kikujiro
Battle Royal
Drunken Master
There are a few more less essential ones but they are defiantly the top ten.
