Watching those clips makes me glad I had never heard of him. Seriously, they have just made me remember why I give very little of my attention to stand-ups. I have to say I totally agree with Lev: saying what everyone else has already thought of but decided that it is so bloody obvious that it's not worth saying just isn't comedy.

Yeah, that wasn't particularly funny, but I have seen Carlin do some funnier more typical stand-up stuff.

I hardly ever find the material that stand-ups do particularly funny; it's whether the stand-up himself is funny, usually in the form of his mannerisms. You do need some kind of material to cover, though, or else you're just left with Lee Evans.

Do you people not have anything better to do but to bash everything, be negative and put everyone down?

He is also Rufus from Bill and Ted.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

And the old guy in Jersey Girl.

I very much enjoyed his acting. Kevin Smith must be crying his balls off right now.

What he said might have been 'obvious' but surely most stand-ups comedians take our thoughts and run them through in a logical and humorous manner. There are two types of stand ups, really - the preachers and the story-tellers. George Carlin was a preachy type and funny too, in my opinion.

Oh, and you have gag-comedians too - ie. Jimmy Carr who is a bit :wall:
"And what about the churches and all their wealth
There's an unseen fortune under their belts
Are golden temples a symbol of God's way
This horde of wealth is a sickening display"

Pretty true caps, case in point Bill Hicks.

Yeah, and I think Bill Hicks is crap aswell. Obviously preacher comedy isn't my thing.
