I saw Slayer once at Wembley Arena, Tattoo The Planet in 2001 I believe. They were good, but not amazing. I'd much prefer to see them in a smaller venue, Wembley's shit.

Turn up just before the headline act and stand some way back. Problems solved.

Well, good lord indeed! I've just listened to the first track of Show No Mercy (and I shall continue with the rest of the album now), and it's bloody better than any other Slayer I've ever heard! Well done boys and Harris. Tom Araya's vocals are amazing, I never realised he was this good. Really nice indeed, very good! I shall definitely listened to this album multiple times.

I'm not exaggerating when I say every track totally rules! It's like Iron Maiden and Venom gone more evil and thrash, with more riffs than a comprehensive online encyclopedia of riffs could handle. Perhaps you will join me before long in saying it's the best thrash album ever?

Perhaps I will... Though my thrash collection isn't that vast, so this is probably the best one I own anyway. Although I'm not going to be too hasty to declare it, because I love Eternal Nightmare very, very much!

But yes indeed, I know what you mean, I'm on the 9th track now, and every single song has been brilliant. I can't pick out a single one that's stood out as they're all so great. And the thing that always kind of ruined Slayer a little bit for me was that I always found Tom Araya's vocal style hilarious, especially on Reign In Blood. It added to the intensity and it was great, but, for example, I can't listen to Jesus Saves without laughing at the speed of his vocals every time. But on Show No Mercy they're just brilliant and vicious and the screams are fantastic, and it's not hilarious at all, it's just brilliant. What a shame they have become such a mediocre thrash band.

They do. I've seen them 11 times and I've only seen them be average twice (Download this year and 2005).
Just stay to either side of the crowd if you don't want to be battered all over the place.

production is a bit shit and the 3 songs are really noisy, but its heavier, faster and more evil than SNM, and the songs do totally rule!!!!

and James, you must see Slayer before they go away forever, even if they aren't the best live band, certainly worth seeing!!!

SNM is the only Slayer album that I love,
sometime I wish they keep playing that style
instead of those abyss, SOH thing......

but, I can't agree that is the BEST thrash metal album ever.....
