Pickup Switch

Postby zykloned on Tue Mar 13, 2007 4:37 pm

My pickup switch is being a bastard.

Everytime I'm on the bridge, and I flick to the neck, its fine, but everytime I'm on the neck and I want to flick back down to the bridge pickup, it just seems to lose it, having active pickups I've checked to see if it was just the batteries that was the problem, put fresh ones in, same thing.

It's actually driving me up the wall. Gave the pots a good clean, and it was fine for a few days, but it's the same problem now.

Anyone got any idea whats wrong with it, or what I should do?

Gawd damn!!

Your switch or a pot probably needs replacing. It happens often enough to me.

You think you have problems, my switch is a screw.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

Sounds like it could be the contacts being wank. Try getting some contact spray and giving it a quick spray from the top and bottom, however im guessing its the actual mechanisim, meaning you need a new one.

It's a Les Paul stylee one!

I'll try getting hold of some of that spray, but I'm looking to change all my hardward anyway (to black, goffik innit  ) so if it's really becoming a nuisance ( which it is!! ) I might just get a new one as suggested!

As others have said, it sounds like you'l need a new switch, they're not too expensive, you'l find if you use your switch alot it will need replacing every now and then cause they're made pretty w*nkly.

first thing to do is take the plastic bits off, then unscrew it and take it out if you can, then look at the mechanism as you flick the switch, it might be vagueley fixable!
