How Easy to get a gig in london?

Postby origamikid on Sat Jan 24, 2009 12:25 pm

Hey guys, hope all is well!

How easy is it to get a gig in london would anybody say? Basically a personal goal for me this year was not only pull my band together, get us practising and finish writing/learning the stuff that i have worked on idividually with different members....but apart from that i really wanna play in London by the end of the year and i would like to know how difficult it is to get gigs, especially in the Camden area?

If anyone knows would be helpful as i am trying to evaluate what of my goals i can ever begin to accomplish this year before my mental breakdown begins to spiral out of control.....

I imagine seeing as there are more venues, and more venues who live metal then it should be easier however more bands want to play....

Just because there is that, does'nt mean that the promoters themselves are capable.

Have a look at gigs that are happening with bands that are playing that are similar to you then try mailing the promoters themselves or ask Jamie ;)

If the gay bands didn't get gigs they can accuse the venues of homophobia! PC gone mad!

It's easy to get a gig in a shit venue with a shit promoter.

Only a handful of good promoters

Really..? That sucks.

I guess when i get up and going i will just have to organize some gigs with people from this forum in the various places they reside in.

It's so hard: A) finding a drummer- B) Finding the time seeing as the rest of my members live half a hour away (atleast)

Getting the gig is easy - the hard part is dodging the fists flying your way afterwards.

I would love to be able to sing like John Cyriis, I would quite honestly communicate like that all day.

Quite good though.
