What song got you in to playing guitar, drums, bass etc?

Postby Thrashmetalforever! on Wed Aug 23, 2006 5:26 pm

When I first started playing guitar I had this annoying period where I could do the easy stuff (All right now, smoke on water etc..) but any thrash i wanted to learn was just too hard. The song that got me playing it over and over again till I was reasonably fast was Dead Skin Mask ( :rockdevil:) nothing special, just the opening riff but that was when I thought "Wow I can play something I really like!" So what song did it for you?

I remember playing The Hunter by Iced Earth, then realising the whole album was based on pretty much the same 4 or 5 chords, and consequently ruining what was one of my favourite albums...

Anyone else find that once they've learnt a song it ruins it? I learnt Zero Tolerance and Crystal Mountain a month or so back and now dont enjoy listening to Symbolic nearly as much as I used to, really fucking annoying!

'Sweet Dreams' by Marilyn Manson. I thought it was a cool riff, so I got my Dad to help me learn it. 5 or 6 years on I'm the greatest guitarist in the world.

Symbolic is probably Death's most simple album. Learn all of Human instead!

First song I learnt and taught myself 2 years ago was The Who - Behind Blue Eyes, then kinda went on from there. I wanted to learn things that I enjoy listening to rather than skill factor.
