Iron Maiden - Powerslave

I really don't like this album. Aces High is the only good song on it, and Rime of the Ancient Mariner is so booooooring!

I beg to differ.

War Pigs can never be over played for me. Planet Caravan is without a doubt one of their best, as is Hand of Doom. Plus you've got Rat Salad, Fairies Wear Boots and Electric Funeral.

Although I may perhaps say that it is overrated just because it's the only album a lot of Black Sabbath 'fans' have heard. But overall, I think this leads it to being underrated by a lot of true metal heads.

Where did that now come from?

To make my double post worth while I'll add in Judas Priest's British Steel as overrated. Songs like Metal Gods, Living After Midnight and Breaking the Law just aren't worth the over play they're given. I hate people saying Breaking the Law is their favourite Priest track. I will say that it does contain some underrated songs though. The Rage and Steeler spring to mind.

Thanks

Yeah, Sting has done some good stuff, but The Police are miles better, they're brilliant!

And well done Stu for saying British Steel, I find it quite a boring album at times, though it does contain a couple of gems.

I don't know if anyone has said Number of the Beast yet, as I haven't checked all the first page, but I'll say it now. Whilst I still think it's a brilliant album, I don't think its the classic masterpiece that everyone claims it to be. Run To The Hills is probably one of Maiden's worst songs (even though it is a good bit of fun), the title track is good but not amazing, Gangland is just alright, Invaders is hilarious, and that's half the album that isn't amazing. Children of the Damned, 22 Acacia Avenue, The Prisoner and Total Eclipse (although I know that last one was originally a b-side) are great songs, and Hallowed Be Thy Name is one of the best songs ever written. But altogether, in my opinion that does not make a truly classic album, just a great one. Many of Maiden's albums are consistently more amazing than No. of the Beast, including their debut, Powerslave and Seventh Son. And Piece of Mind too actually.

Basically to summarise all this, if it weren't for Hallowed Be Thy Name, No. of the Beast would just be a 'good' album.

I find Led Zeps albums are quite overrated, they're good, with some fantastic tracks, but it's not AMAZING all the time!

They are for the first four albums! But yeah, I know what you mean, after that they did start to get a bit dodgy. I think they only really really brilliant album they did after Zep IV was Physical Graffitti. The other albums had some great tracks on them but weren't all that wonderful. But then again, I never thought any of those albums were overrated at all really, I didn't think they were even rated.

I don't think Zeppelin as a band are overrated, but I don't think all of their albums were great. Even HOTH, which has some brilliant classic songs on it, isn't consistently amazing, though it's probably the best of the latter bunch, along with Physical Graffitti. But Achilles Last Stand is actually my favourite Zeppelin song, so there you go. And Presence isn't a very great album.
