Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Yes America is scummy and their horrible version of our language is too (and why the fuck do some of those dumb pricks call it AMERICAN?? - "I don't speak English, I'm from America")... but I mean, they did 'beat' us to win their independance (after stealing our entire country's technology and knowledge and language), so I guess fair play to em
But one thing Iain, one horrible thing - Who the fuck laughs at Friends?? (except for actually AT the show??)... I am a pretty ungrateful prick though, it would seem!!!
Well, French, German, and the Romance languages are all part of the Indo-European family of languages so the vocabularly is pretty similar. Even Russian and the majority of Slavonic languages are pretty similar to English if you're capable of lateral thinking. I think language, like most things, took off big time in Iraq. To be honest, I don't know any Gaelic so I can't say whether or not it's that different.
I'm still trying to accept the disintegration of the British Empire. It was great.
Who laughs at Friends? Try being a student. The number of cunts you get that don't find Dad's Army, One Foot In the Grave, Peep Show, and Yes, Minister funny is outrageous. At the same time, it's hard not to be subject to Anchorman quotes whenever you go to a party or even to someone's flat.
Thank fuck I'm officially done with education a week today!

A lot of people think that modern languages originated somewhere around India. It's called something like 'Indo-European'. It's been a while since we studied it at school.
Aye.
Having studied Estonian - a Finno-Ugric language - you realise how lucky you are to know English. Honestly, the only other languages that have much in common with it are Finnish and Hungarian and they're both impossible to learn. People always ask me if Estonian is just like Russian but English is actually far closer to Russian than Estonian is. It's mad. That reminds me, Estonian exam on Monday.
Hoorah!

I thought you were studying politics?
Regardless, I can sympathise with your eagerness to leave further education (or at least other students) behind. By the end of my third year I was sick of writing bullshit essays to cater for twattish lecturers while trying to put up with fuck-monkey students. The worst part of my course were other people.
I think I met about ten people that I liked, about 30 I could stand and around 100 that used to infuriate me. Obviously I met more but that sounds about right for people I came into regular contact with. And I'm actually pretty tolerant of people. By the end of it I really struggled to keep myself civil.

Joint Honours in Central and East European Studies, and Politics. I had to do CEES because Single Honours Politics would have been soul-destroying. It's a lesson in life, never do anything you think you might like.
I too share your hatred for students. I really don't mind the education part at all. The fact that my coursework over the past two years has consisted mainly of As is probably why. I cannot stand the majority of students though. I've even had a few nemeses in my time at Uni. One of them was in my Politics tutorials in second year. He basically purveyed every cliché about the Bush Administration going. He pissed me off so much so that I have become a complete right-wing extremist just to spite him.
