Cannibal Corpse "Tour" 2009

Postby Cernunnos on Sun Dec 14, 2008 11:57 pm

CC are playing 2 dates in February:
18th Feb - The Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth
19th Feb - The Forum, London (supporting Children of Bodom  :wall: )

What's the world coming to?
That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And in strange aeons even death may die

For fucks sake. You facking cockerneys have it good you know.

Nearly as good as the maiden UK tour that - 1 gig in Twickenham then off to south America for a month or so. Bitter? :|

Corpse went off the boil after Gallery of suicide but Kill (the album) is fucking immense, can't fault it.

Cannibal Corpse were flawless. Setlist was:

The Time To Kill Is Now
Death Walking Terror
Disfigured
Evisceration Plague
I Cum Blood
Fucked With A Knife
The Wretched Spawn
I Will Kill You
Priests Of Sodom
A Skull Full Of Maggots
Hammer Smashed Face
Stripped, Raped And Strangled

Quite a big set for an opening band. The venue almost emptied after Cannibal Corpse haha. Met Corpsegrinder right before the gig, nice guy.

Before Hammer Smashed Face this HUGE pit opened and it was literally most of the floor. Much have been great to see from stage.

Si tried crowd surfing and got dropped hahahahaha!!!

I saw them about 7-8 years or so ago playing the back room of a pub!!!! Seriously!! They played the victoria inn in derby (the venue heretic play regularly) and they were bloody great! No point paying the prices they were asking this time round after that!!!

CANNIBAL CORPSE/CHILDREN OF BODOM
Nottingham Rock City 17th Feb.

DIABLO
Finnish Bodom wannabes with hints of Dark Tranquillity and lots of other bands you could mention. They could play and their songs were tight enough but they just lacked any spark of real originality.
6/10

CANNIBAL CORPSE
I'd never seen CC before so I'd been looking forward to this with more than a little anticipation. Totally worth the wait. Excellent sound, excellent set and some amusing stage banter by Mr Corpsegrinder. The pit went completely insane for their whole duration, one of the maddest I've ever seen for a support band.
9/10

I've gone from memory on the set list so I've probably got a couple in the wrong order.

The Time to Kill is Now
Death Walking Terror
Disfigured
Evisceration Plague
I Cum Blood
Sentenced to Burn
Fucked With a Knife
Make Them Suffer
Unleashing the Bloodthirsty
Priests of Sodom
Hammer Smashed Face
Stripped, Raped and Strangled

Too far away and getting battered in the pit to get any decent pics so this will have to do.

CHILDREN OF BODOM
Easily the best I've seen them since The Astoria show at the beginning of 2006 but they still rely on the same old schtick for every gig (lots of swearing, lots of references to drinking and the ever reliable let's-all-tell-the-keyboard-player-he-fucked-up moment).
Still, they played a very good set, had an excellent sound and the crowd went suitably fruitloopy for them.
Can't be arsed with writing the whole setlist but, among others, they played: Hellhounds on My Trail, Living Dead Beat, Sixpounder, Silent Night Bodom Night, Hate Me, Follow the Reaper, In Your Face, Blooddrunk, Angels Don't Kill, Lake Bodom/Bodom Beach Terror, Downfall, Bed of Razors, Hatecrew Deathroll.
8/10

Time to resurrect this little beauty.

CANNIBAL CORPSE UK TOUR 2009

29 October 2009 - Koko, London
30 October 2009 - Corporation, Sheffield
31 October 2009 - ABC, Glasgow
01 November 2009 - The Assembly Rooms, Leamington Spa
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can't believe they're playing The Assembly Rooms. It's only a quick 20 minute train ride from where I live.
I may drop in.
