Just listening to one of these Spinefarm/Nucelar Assault Maiden tribute albums on Spotify has given me an idea.
Why not get some of the UKT bands to do a similar type of thing? Doesn't have to be specifically Maiden, but could include Saxon, Priest, Maiden, Sabbath, some of the "old-guard" of British metal. Similar kind of thing to Bangers and Thrash and Thrashing Like a Maniac, but covers instead.
Would be a laugh I think

I'd buy that for a dollar.
I don't know what the logistics of it would be, but it's an interesting idea - UKT does NWOBHM.
Can I request Saxon 'Princess of the Night' please?

YES YOU CAN!
I'd bloody love to do something like this. May I suggest some titles also:
Maiden - Phantom of the Opera
Cloven Hoof - Nova Battlestar
Grim Reaper - Rock You To Hell
Judas Priest - Stained Class
Saxon - Still Fit To Boogie/Big Teaser/Stallions of the Highway
And probably a billion and two hundred more Maiden/Priest/Saxon songs.

Re: Possible Project: Thrash Bands Covers Album?
haha, how funny
i was thinking this a while ago, rent a studio for a day with a basic live setup, invite the bands to come in, record one live take and throw em all together as a stocking filler! could go one better and have each UKT band record their own "signature" track and make an uptodate bangers and thrash, think we need another cheeky compilation

Possibly working on a one-song-per-NWBHM-band idea, my track suggestions:
Iron Maiden - Powerslave or Children of the Damned
Pagan Altar - The Witches Pathway
Black Sabbath - Children of the Grave
Saxon - Killing Ground
UFO - Doctor Doctor
Judas Priest - Night Crawler
Cloven Hoof - Highlander
Angel Witch - White Witch
Grim Reaper - Wrath of the Ripper

In my opinion, as it'll be thrash bands doing it (hypothetically of course), the songs should be early powerful raw joys. So I reckon it should be a Maiden song off the first two albums (as I said before, I reckon Phantom of the Opera would be the ultimate choice, as it is the best heavy metal song of all time), and as for Saxon, as amazing as Killing Ground is, they have a billion kajillion better songs from their past that'd be much better to do. Like... Big Teaser...
And well, as for Judas Priest... we should choose either from Sad Wings or Stained Class, or there's no point in being alive.
