That's not hard, At the Gates are mediocre as hell. I don't care what they innovated, or started, they blow.

Just after listenin to both songs there. Great tight sounding production, drums sound amazing! But all in all im far from blown away by it. I was, as with the last demo, expecting far more than i got. Too much bigging up of the songs again i feel. A sterling effort none the less, but as iv said time and time again i genuinely believe the Heretic sound is closer to Death/Black metal origins than thrash (thats just my opinion, dont take it as offence). Thought the tone made the shredding on I.O.D sound really tinny and made it tough listenin for me at times in all honesty. Saltergate i thought was decent, but nothing more. Vocals sound good tho i think! However as i said at the start of the post THE DRUMS ARE SHIT HOT! Thats the 'FUCK' in this demo if you ask me, all else is, 'ok'.
Clearly im more built than you.

I don't see the ATG influence. If anything theres more Carcass (circa Necroticism era) to be found here imo.
I killed Reanimator.

The only influence At the Gates have on us is vocally, and even then I tend to rip off Jeff Walker more.

i didnt say Heretic were better than At the Gates or make a comparison. I just said Heretic sounded like them to an extent. And yes the carcass influence is just if not more obvious.

no one should be comparing heretic to carcass! they dont come close! i personally dont like either of these songs! its not bad but thats it! id rather be listening to the apparent generic bands like rager. who i think have a hell of a lot more origionality about them! too many bands seem to think there doin something different when they are actually just badly ripping off the greats!

Oh I don't know, I just compared 'Saltergate' and 'When all is said and done' on iTunes and I think we did a pretty good job of completely ripping Napalm Death off.

Nah everything else we've got is rubbish, so we're just gonna try and trick a label to shell out some cash for an album then release these tracks and a load of filler. It's fool-proof.

I likes um!!! I dont actually see that much progression from some of the older stuff either. I mean the killing fields would have sat better with IOD than saltergate. The old demo tracks would sound just as good with this production too. Who eventually played bass on this BTW????
