rhymes innit
indeed rocking, i'm out of the loop a bit, but i get up to date with all the juicy goodness on here! being skint really doesn't help when the majority of gigs are either in london (the most expensive place ever!) or up north, which is just too expensive to get to at mo but yeah, hopefully things will change soon, and who knows, rager might even get a drummer soon!

Re: What Do You Think Of The State Of UK Thrash Right Now?
Just thought I'd throw in my opinion here... I haven't read or posted much on this forum for a while but I do pop on once in a while.
I think the scene is a bit a victim of its own success - bands like SSS, Gama Bomb and Evile have elevated themselves a long way ahead of the pack and at the other end theres a lot of new bands springing up who are encouraged and influenced by the new wave, most of whom are not very good - at least not yet. This means the 'bottom end' (for want of a better phrase) of the scene is clogged up with dross: I've been asked by dozens and dozens of new thrash bands that are mediocre at best for shows in the last 12 months or so, whilst over the same period of time a lot of the scene stalwarts have either done nothing or in some cases are moving backwards, and it means whilst the scene IS growing its also losing momentum in terms of being sharp.
What's needed is for one or two bands to take a step up, elevate themselves above the crowd and shake things up a little bit. I can think of two, maybe three bands in the UK right now that hopefully are close to doing this.
Quick one also on the gig front, attendence at underground shows is def. down but thats an arguement for a whole different thread. The reason there's been bog all thrash shows in Brum is because of the venue issue pure and simple!

Warpath, Seregon and Heretic are all extremely good bands in the UK that are on the verge of taking off to compete with the Earache bands. They are the bands that I feel have the greatest potential and the best material.
And hopefully people would include us in that category. We have been around for as long as the other bands and involved in the scene for a while. The album was ok, but our new material is much better than the 2007 stuff, and we're far tighter with the new members.
What I'm seeing is the old bands really tightening up and honing their game. Mutant, Muted and HOD are all going from strength to strength. 2010 will be a good year I think.

I think it's pretty hard for bands to be doing gigs and running around everywhere all the time. There will be times where bands will need to take a bit of a break, or just write new material or make other plans or whatever, and will not be gigging as much, and so of course there will be a bit of a lull, there won't be as many shows to go to, and people will find other things to occupy their time with. But as soon as everyone is ready for some more action, it'll be lovely again. So don't worry everyone. Not that any of you are worried anyway, but you know what I mean.

I agree with the first three. But adding the last bands there, i would say Mutant and HOD are exactly up there with the others. Mutant especially. Mutant are a lovely band and they keep it fresh with speed metal elements, and it hink they have more of a boost than Warpath now because they missed out on the Evile tour, which is a shame. Seregon are amazing, doing well by the looks of it, and theyve got onto a europe festival for their awesome music, which must feel good. And hopefully that leads to new places.
But theres seems to be a big wave of bands whos main influences are like Evile, Gama Bomb and Municipal Waste, and this just seems to be the younger generation (mostly younger than me so...) and the result isnt great, or going anywhere.
I dunno... UK Thrash is lovely at the moment.
Also, keep an eye out for Visceral Attack!!

Deceptor is the best UK Thrash band!

Well I replaced the frontman of Deceptor in that other band he was in. So I win, cheers.

Yeah…but…they tried to get me first and I told them that I could not do it as I was working on ‘Brutalised Sage’ material.
