Haha, funnily enough, they have a new album out soon!
New atheist tinged track, pretty good.

Re: Rush
Cool, I don't remember this thread. I've been listening to loads of Rush lately, Chris 'Ripper' Ripley is a big fan and he has been showing me the light!
I have Fly By Night, Caress of Steel, A Farewell to Kings, 2112, Moving Pictures, and the debut on vinyl which I should revist sometime. I don't really have a favourite out of the ones I have, they have such a great sound and as Tom said in the original post, they're amazing musicians without showing off.
Some of my favourite songs so far are By-Tor and the Snow Dog, The Necromancer, and Xanadu. 2112 (the song) is epic too. Also the track Cygnus X-1 is amazing. There are too many!
I personally really like Geddy Lee's voice, loads of expression and a very unique style. And I can only echo what's been said about Neil Peart!
Next to get are Hemispheres and Permanent Waves, but I'd also like to explore their '80s period more.

Re: Rush
Love every album up to and including "Moving Pictures".
"Rush" ('74)
"Fly By Night" ('75)
"Caress of Steel"('75)
"2112" ('76)
"Farewell to Kings" ('77)
"Hemispheres" ('78)
"Permanent Waves" ('80)
"Moving Pictures" ('81)
It's hard to pick a fave out of these, but I would have to go for the 1st Rush album I heard and bought in the 70s- "2112".
Then they became a different band from "Signals" onwards. I thought "Signals" was horrendous back '82 and still do.
I have all the albums post "Signals", and there's some OK tracks on these. However, it was not till "Counterparts" ('93) that I thought they were starting to get an old sparkle back. It's not classic era Rush, but it's good in its own right. Each album, since then, has been pretty good stuff.
It's also worth getting "All the World's A Stage" live album that came out in '76, recorded on the "2112" world tour. "Exit..Stage Left" ('81) is another good live album. I have not got any of the other live albums.

Re: Rush
I haven't listened to Rush in a long, looooooooooong time bar the odd song here and there. My dad used to have 2112 and I heard that a lot as kid, very good band from what I remember. I might have to pick their stuff up
