I think they're shit, although they're one of these bands that are held in high esteem because of their 'seminal' concept album Operation: Mindcrime, to which they released the sequel last year or the year before. Whenever it was, it was shit. The original was pretty good, has a few good songs like Revolution Calling and Spreading The Disease, but overall it's a highly overrated album, it's just average metal performed well with that idiot singer wailing everywhere (although he does sound pretty good on certain tracks). But generally, although they are sometimes good, i think they're rubbish. Empire's supposed to be a good album though, but I haven't heard it.

also Saying Queensryche sound NWOBHM in any way is a bit of a fail.

I wouldn't personally call Pagan Altar "NWOBHM", but they frequently are. I guess it depends if you're talking about style or time period.
