the only band who make good use of drop D is annihilator. its actually intersting.

other than that its just lazy to me. An open E power chord to me sounds weaker when its drop D. You need the B held down.

Aspid, yes good stuff indeed

Some band that uses a weird tuning are Periphery. Some of their songs are really amazing, best ones don't have vocals in though (otherwise you might just cry).. they tune like this: AGCFAD sounds WELL heAVY!!!

Standard D and E flat are my most common tunings. I don't use dropped because like Ol said, I think it's a bit lazy.
