That's brilliant. I'd whole heartedly agree.

 Indeed, that's hilariously true. If anyone who didn't know anything about metal told me Iron Maiden were rubbish I'd get really offended. Yet here I am arguing intently that their last two albums were mostly shit.

I went to the AMOLAD live show too, and it was pretty boring, the best bit was when they had to cut the power after the 5th song and Nicko got his dressing gown on and had a cup of tea, and Bruce got out a football and kicked it into the crowd. Even if the music was boring, at least that showed they're still great entertainers! Lord of Light and The Legacy I thought worked pretty well live, but other than that it was a bit rubbish. The Evil That Men Do and 2 Minutes To Midnight were obviously brilliant though.

I'm praying that they play Seventh Son live next year, but I know they won't. The cunts.

That Death Metal covers thread has inspired to ponder the question: which Maiden song would you UK Thrash bands cover?

Nah, they won't. I just can't see them being arsed to do that. Even at Donnington 88 they mentioned how hard it was to play, so I can't see it happening in 2008.

I wasn't actually all that impressed with the "Early Days" setlist at all. It was finally a chance to hear tracks like 22 Acacia Avenue, Charlotte the Harlot, and Purgatory. But instead they threw together a very predictable setlist, as a lot of their live staples consist of tracks off the first 3 albums anyway.

Phantom of the Opera was phenomenal (especially seeing it at Hammersmith = RELIGIOUS experience), but it really raised the question: why the fuck has this not been a definite inclusion in live shows for their whole career? It's just as worthy of constant play as Hallowed be thy Name.

In fact, for fucks sake, they play boring old Run to the Hills every night, and not Phantom?? That's fucked up.

So my expectations for the next tour are not sky high, although that's not to say I'm not very excited - I really hope they play tracks like The Duellists, The Clairvoyant, Stranger in a Strange Land (bloody unlikely I reckon).

At least Wasted Years is extremely likely - I think they even threw that one in in 2003, so that'll be great.

I can't see Alexander the Great happening, but it would be awesome. Perhaps controversial here, but I would rather hear that live than Rime of the Ancient Mariner, as I think it's a lot better.

Anyway, enough. I really could talk about Maiden for days. In fact, I'd be well up for just meeting in a pub and talking about Iron Maiden all night, and how pointless Janick Gers is.

We play Die With Your Boots On in rehearsal sometimes. We might gig it one day...

Having said that, if anyone in our band stops playing for more than 2 minutes, you can guarantee someone will start a Maiden song that turns into an hour long jam of Maiden classics :)

We've been known to cover The Trooper live on a few occasions, although it was usually pretty shoddily done cause we have never EVER rehearsed it

Technically, that will be later today then, won't it?

Goodness me, what controversy I've caused. I still haven't got enough time, I need to eat dinner and go to work. Maybe I'll do it when I come home.
