Re: UK Music Venues - NO NOISE CONTROL Petition
OK so I've called the Environment Agency, DEFRA, HPA and the H&SE and they all know nothing of this legislation.
Despite this NONE of them were prepared to say that this ISN'T going to happen so basically there is no progress
I've faxed my MP (using http://www.writetothem.com/) asking for someone in his office to clarify the governments position on the law/petition.
Although I'm inclined to agree with Lev, I'd still say sign it as it's only a few minutes of your time and it'll be years without the dials going to 11

Re: UK Music Venues - NO NOISE CONTROL Petition
I just got through to Camden's Noise Control Unit (who have a surprisingly noisy office) and they know nothing of this. They put me through to the licensing team (responsible for issuing live music licenses) and they have also heard nothing about any changes to the current licensing act. They added that it is not likely that changes could be made now for the next financial year. Government just doesn't work that quickly I guess.
Well my ear is hurting now so I think I am going to sit back and wait for my MP to ignore me for that statutory 20 days before blurting out some nonsense.
I can't say it's not true but it's looking pretty iffy. I'll be the first to shush someone talking over your solos Ol. I may even wear my old library monitor badge to make it all official

Re: UK Music Venues - NO NOISE CONTROL Petition
Glad to hear this may not be true...not only would this kill metal but the live scene for all rock and punk music. I honestly dont think the government would do this. IT would fuck up places like camden and hammersmith etc way to much

Re: UK Music Venues - NO NOISE CONTROL Petition
I have to say that I would be all for a certain amount of noise regulation at gigs. Some I have been to recently have been totally ridiculous and unlistenable. I like it loud but not to the extent that it ruins the gig (Exodus please take note).

You've got a point there.
Actually, this is hilarious. Everyone's gone mad and said this will ruin live music, but as far as I've seen, there's been no specific details of what the limit will (supposedly) actually be sent to.

True, but if its anything like i've seen/heard before, it's very quiet. As in, being able to talk over a grindcore band to your transvetite mate with one leg.
Cos everyone knows that's who you go to a grind gig with.

Re: UK Music Venues - NO NOISE CONTROL Petition
Its really really low. If you go over it auto cuts the power off...thats lame. I went to a gig with some freinds once and he couldnt get his tone from his amp cause if he turned up the gain it pushed the volume to high above the level and then if he turned his amp master volume down then it was far to quiet to even be played properly.
Its really not cool. They wouldnt get away with it. Imagine every music venue in the country all complaining about one thing...it wouldnt happen
