yea i really cant tune for shit, my ears can detect that its out of tune but in no way would they be able to get it back...
Arrgghh the arguments lol
Why do people think drop tuning is gay may i ask?
As i said before i think some thrash bands wouldnt be happy about that?

Re: Drop D
Most would hate drop tuning because at one point in time, to be a metal band all you needed to do was drop to D and play D, F, G in different rhythms (see Pantera) to become popular. It was all just faggish repeatative bollocks.
All guitars should just be seven strings (B-E) and all basses should be six strings (B-C).

Re: Drop D
Yeah, I was watching some clips of Adrian Smith 'guitar lessons', and he started talking about his phase with his side-project Psycho Motel. Surprise surprise, it was the early 90s so he D-tuned... he demonstrated the riffs he wrote for it and they were GANT. And ths is Adrian Smith we're talking about.
It's not that no good music can be achieved with drop D, but it seems to have a tendancy to make your riffs fucking shit.

Re: Drop D
You should all just trying to play in Open E. It totally fucks you over and you can't play anything that doesn't sound like Joni Mitchell.

Personally I'm not a giant fan of drop tunings, but they are heavy. Good for playing chuggy riffs, but good for making gay nu-metal...
I dont think onslaught and slayer would be very happy to find out they have been making nu metal all these years lol
Some of Slayers later stuff is drop tuned, but the rest is in standard E flat or something.
Best way to play thrash is to just learn the entire Reign in Blood album all the way through. Once you can play that in standard tuning, you'll realise that there's no point in using drop tunings!
