Did you know that the guy who played Wikus is Howling Mad Murdock in the new A-Team film with Liam Neesson, though for his first ever film role District 9 was great, most of the dialogue was improvised!!!!
Me and Bill went to see The Road today, both thought it was really good, Viggo was spot on as usual....just shows me how much I don't ever want to be in a situation like that where you are barley surviving or you go completely insane, failing that just doing yourself in.
Its been quite funny reading people's reviews on it though...if you found it boring fair enough but I love introspective and bleak films (take the Russian film STALKER for example) as it makes me appreciate the now much more and actually shows emotion, instead of just the usual pretty fireworks. The ones going on about how "unrealistic" it was really makes me chuckle. They start to claim that people won't resort to cannibalism and how people act in the film...christ people are dicks enough to each other now let alone when the whole world crumbles, who knows what will happen. Also how the event came about is secondary its about the man and his boy, I wouldn't think they would start arguing about if they could plant seeds or set up elaborate hydroponic gardens when people are trying to kill and eat them.

Going to see The Road tomorrow. Trying to cram in reading the book before then.
Got Inglourious Basterds for my crimbo and whilst it was excellent I don't know why Brad Pitt is being so stroppy about not being nominated for a Golden Globe. He was good, but not that good.

I did think Brad Pitt was awesome in Inglourious, but it definitely wasn't an award-worthy performance, it was just hilarious and brilliant. The film itself should definitely get nominated at least though. But if Viggo Mortensen doesn't get nominated for a thousand awards for The Road, I'm going to eat my own arse.

Christophe Waltz was the best thing about that film. Terrifying! If he got a nomination I wouldn't complain... also Sam Rockwell in Moon... brilliant. And talking of terrifying, it'll never happen, but Peter Capaldi was amazing in In The Loop!

Hahahaha, if Peter Capaldi got an Oscar for Best Actor, life would be too amazing. James Gandolfini was amazing in that film too! You're right about Inglourious boys too, old Hans was definitely the best thing in that film, his screen presence was incredible. Still really need to see Moon!

The Road is a good film. Funny not being able to say that you enjoyed it as it was more a case of enduring it The bit with the Man hearing the dog on the matress is not in the book and I think they threw that in to give a more plausible reason for leaving the haven of the bunker, rather than just the Man's paranoia that someone would eventually find the hatch. Other wee Hollywood bullshit bits added in elsewhere in the film including the slightly altered ending. Viggo was great but I get the feeling that the Boy will get more credit at the awards ceremonies.

I was told that it's quite faithful to the original book, so reading it before hand lessens some of the tension as you know what's coming up next.
I haven't read the book though because I am not gay.

The Book of Eli is Hollywood action-man nonsense, and The Road is a real amazing non-action film, taking the post apocalyptic thing from a completely different angle and focussing on human loveliness, and cannibals.
Hahaha, The Rock in the Mummy Returns, I remember how unbelievably bad that was! What an absolutely awful film. But Terminator wasn't as bad as that for goodness me, even though it was pretty below average.

Well the Book of Eli has cannibals in it
Its about a man who carries the only copy of the bible left in the world and the struggle to use it for good as opposed to other people who would use it for evil.
I dont wanna spoil the movie but its not very good.
Mila Kunis would get it Larry large and the ending is quite clever if you think about things, but it suffers badly compared to The Road.
