James wrote:I have enjoyed reading this thread, because I smiled with joy every time I saw one I agreed with, and it reminded me how much wonderful heavy metal albums there are.

There's not much point me posting the same things again, although I could (and basically do) listen to 1980-88 Maiden forever, as well as virtually all 70s and early 80s Priest (although British Steel is bland).

Props to Harris for saying first two Rainbow - PERFECT without a doubt, and also good shout on Sultan's Ransom Tom - that one really is astonishingly great!

I like British Steel very much, that and Screaming are probably my fave Priest albums.

I probably rate the following as perfect albums

Avantasia - The Scarecrow (bar the two "pop" songs)
Vanishing Point - Embrace The Silence
Vanishing Point - The Fourth Season
Insomnium - Above The Weeping World
Pyramaze -Immortal
Iced Earth - Something Wicked
Sonata Arctica - Winterheart's Guild

Yes, I only have Argus though. But that one is a total classic also.

Nah, I wouldn't say so; I just enjoy the classic rock twin guitar, the changing atmospheres and the excellent melodies :)

P.S. the prog hate is mainly a wind up, as I havent bothered to listen to much of it.
