I read in an interview with Gene Hoglan where he said that Darkness Descends came out something like two weeks after Reign in Blood did.

Reign In Blood makes pretty much all other metal look pathetic by comparison.

Not darkness descends!

Cant ever remember people saying SLAYER played too fast, which is what was said about DARK ANGEL even before DD, the KERRRANG!! review of "we have arrived" slated it for being too fast, and people were still saying it on later albums. In my opinion, DD is the best ever thrash album, and had it have had the major label backing that RIB did, it would have been as huge!! I am in no way slating slayer though, because i love the first 3 albums, all classics. What a lot of you guys on here dont understand though, is that slayers profile in the 80s wasnt so much about the music as their attitude, they were the first total thrash band to get major recognition and they were offensive and extreme and they did upset everyone who wasnt a fan. Nowadays every extreme in music has been explored musically and lyrically, so it isnt hard to shock anymore. Back in '86 it was so different and although they werent the only extreme band, they spearheaded the scene and were the first to bring sickness to the ears of the masss, and you have to always love em for that!!!!!

I don't think theres shite all wrong with the new slayer albums but if you expect too much from a band then you're going to be disapointed. I prefer the 80s stuff like but when you start saying hey "this isn't good enough" and "this isn't thrash" that's when a music scene starts to become a trend. For example if a band doesn't sound exactly like darkthrone they are no longer black metal. And do you ever thing that bands after playing for 20 years might want to explore different styles and techniques in their music

This person knows things. Listen.

As for the thing about Nazis, well, not everybody practices what they preach. I mean, to be fair, they have an album entitled "God HAtes Us All", and the singer's Catholic.
I'm going to
Tear your fuckin' eyes out,
Rip your fuckin' flesh off,
Beat you 'till you're just a fucking lifeless carcass,
Fuck you and your progress,
Watch me fucking regress,
You were made to take the fall,
Now you're nothing!!

Apparently, God Hates Us All can viewed this way too:

God Hates US A.

Just a stupid rumour.

Oh yeah, I vaguely remember seeing something like that one time. I think if you look at the album at a certain angle... It's not like they intended it though, it's like the satan thing in Stairway, if you look hard enough you'll find this shit.

not saying slayer 'practise what they preach', but Jeff hanneman used to collect nazi memorabilia and Kerry King has been known to say the odd right wing comment.
I never realised Tom Araya was a catholic! That's ridiculous, considering slayers lyrical content!

Yeah, I guess that's true.

Yeah man, watch that DVD "Metal: a headbanger's journey" or whatever it's called, he says it on there. I'm pretty sure he's said something about that a few times before too.
