It's not bad once you get used to it, I remember it taking several weeks for me to get used to the slower pace of life here when I first moved over from Essex. As a place, Aber is brilliant, just the right size, just in the wrong place coz it takes a minimum of two hours to get anywhere close to civilisation!

Ditto.

I find living in Glasgow hard enough sometimes what with the constant sound of sirens and having to put up with arseholes on the street. Mind you, at least I get mobile reception here. Out in Fife it's non-existent.

Sheffield's just right for me. It has all the conveniences of a city, but there's plenty of countryside a few miles out.

Although it does depend where you go though - Wetherspoons do ales around the £2 mark, which isn't bad at all, and there are other very well priced pubs. That hardly ever applies when it gets to the late hours though.

Fuck London, come to the shire and drink for £1.40 a pint. Plus we have hairy feet.
Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

Thank the Police coming straight from the underground...

I've been a student in the Midlands and in London, so I've got a fairly good idea of how they compare.

Personally I had a waaay better time as a student in the Midlands. Everything is cheaper, from transport to accommodation to beer. It's nice to not have to worry so much about the cost of living, because, as a student, you don't wanna have to think about that while you're busy having a good time. I also really enjoyed being on a campus where everything is geared up towards students, and is therefore even cheaper, like the cafes, hairdressers and tickets for events.

In London naturally everything is more expensive. You often don't even get what you pay for - you could pay over the odds for accommodation and still live somewhere a bit shit. That said, you could get somewhere fairly cheap, but it would be on the suburbs and you could be sharing a house with up to ten other people. Luckily I spent most of my year in London in the library, so I didn't drain loads of money going out, but for an undergraduate degree of three years you're gonna want to make the most of living in London, so I imagine it could get really expensive.

Obviously, as you say, there are loads of other factors to take into account when choosing a uni, but in terms of the expenses/fun ratio, I reckon it works out better not being in London.

Working in London is the best though!

I'm quite torn, I've also got choices in Manchester and Liverpool but both seem to pale in comparison to the awesomeness of London...

I live in central London (Bloomsbury) and really wouldnt like to live anywhere else.
The basic thing is, its a massive metropolis with everything that comes with it.
Ive gotten myself an enjoyable job, got enough money for my basic desires and the music scene is excellent.
I used to live in the North, which I also enjoyed a lot.

I personally cant stand small cities/towns (one of which I originally come from), so this is precisely what I enjoy.
I chose to goto UCL only coz of the city and I havent regretted it for one second.

The only other city Ive liked as much was Berlin.
