Hi All.
I've been into lots of types of metal for years, I'm new to the site, I'm into sytem Of A Down, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Trivium, Spineshank, The More I See, and i LOVE nevermore!!!! Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitarists in the world I have master of puppets and Reign In Blood (a few slayer albums actually), i LOVE Seasons In The Abyss!!!
Based on my fave bands could anyone recommend a thrash band with a couple of more albums behind them (newish, say from last decade) that are from the UK and are playing academys or arenas? Like a band who plays academies/unis etc that are dedicated, the type who are gonna be slightly inventive sometimes and not always the same recycled riffs, bands who like to push boundaries and try new things?
I'm always looking for new bands, would be great to find one, I average one a year (all my bands I'm really into, have all the albums, seen them live more than once). Any help would be great, I'm sure I'll find a great undiscovered band eventually!

Re: Thrash band wanted!
hi there,
those bands you like can't help too much for me to select recommends to you,
anyway Slayer and Metallica sure is good
for Thrash Metal, I still prefer old 80' bands
Im not saying that you can't start with new bands or new bands doesn't good
but, 80' thrash metal rule supreme!
first of all you need to know back in the days,
German Thrash and Bay Area Thrash, both side have their own sound
I think you better self discover which side you prefer
[german 3, Sodom, Kreator, Destruction
vs.
bay area big 4 Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth]
you better start with those gods if you want to hear some old thrash
their albums won't be out of print or hard to find.
Kreator's Pleasure To Kill, Terrible Certainty, for more polish or modern stuff
try Enemy Of God album
Sodom you better start with old classics, Agent Orange or Persecution Mania,
M-16 is their modern classic.
Destructino start with infernal overkill, eternal devastation
Their newly stuff, I only recommend The Antichrist [Devolution and inverntor of evil AVOID!]
Anthrax start with Among The Living or Speading The Disease
Megadeth you better get Rust In Peace, Peace Sells.. but who's buying
I don't recommend new stuff from big 4
most of them don't play thrash metal in recent years
[anyway, all of them seems back to the old roots a bit in lastest albums, but still don't recommend]
PLUS, SEPULTURA from Brazil is one of the 80' thrash god
album like Arise, beneath the remains is true classic,
you better get those!
for NEW bands, who maybe formed after 2000
here's some great release:
Evile - Infected Nations
Violator - Chemical Assault
Bonded By Blood - Feed The Beast
Hexen - State Of Emergency
Merciless Death - Evil In The Night
and sure you need to hear Gama Bomb, Municipal Waste, Pitiful Reign, Toxic Holocaust and much more.....

Recent thrash band from the UK that play academies and stuff? You'll be lucky, give Evile a few years and maybe. Just check the gigs at the Underworld and go to those instead, much more fun.

It's definitely tricky to find something that really accomodates what you're asking for. The new thrash bands aren't really that established and innovation within the genre is fairly limited - something we all frequently acknowledge. However, there are some bigger bands who would be worth checking out all the same. Testament, for example, play some big shows, have had a vary career and have recently released an album that I consider a stormer. Muncipal Waste are newer, growing and beginning to hit some bigger shows and are pretty full-throttle and good fun.
In terms of the UK, the big bands are Evile, SSS and Gama Bomb, really. Their being signed to Earache has given them a big push but other bands such as Pitiful Reign and Savage Messiah have also sorted record label deals (SM being of particular note because Candlelight is a good label and should be one to check out if you're a fan of Nevermore).
However, and I mean no disrespect, there are probably bigger bands in the UK with a thrash influence - rather than being thrash - that might fit your tastes better. To be honest, my finger is well off the pulse in this respect but I imagine there are many metalcore-type bands with a thrash influence and vaired vocals that might do what you're looking for. I don't know, Bullet for my Valentine or the like...

Re: Thrash band wanted!
Thanks for all your help and replys, I'll be checking out the UK bands and more modern bands, I'm a big believer in supporting modern bands and having classic albums from the originators, it's important to me to see a band growing, all of my bands mentioned (as well as Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium), I've been into since early/2nd album and gone backwards as I always do to find their earlier stuff, I discovered nearly all of my music inbetween 1997-2003 with a few bands after that!
I have more of an interest in the technical side of thrash, by that I mean more sounds you wouldn't often hear in thrash rather than the stabby in between palm mute shred style, (I like some of that too but just not all the time, that's why I LOVE nevermore). Diverse, a sound quite unique I think, and Jeff Loomis has a distinctive sound too!
Anyway, I'll get right onto checking all this music out, thanks again!

I've checked out Savage Messiah so far, VERY impressed, they sound very pro, will be buying their new album sharpish, like their shirt on their myspace too, I think they're definitely one to keep an eye on, will be checking out Pittiful Reign soon, thanks for an accurate pick, I like Communic too, not quite as heavy as Nevermore, longer songs and more progressive!

Glad you approve. It's your call but I'd suggest checking out a bit of the classic thrash stuff just to get an idea of where these bands are coming from. I'd also recommend Mutant because they are growing and I just can't imagine them not being someone's cup of tea. However, as has been said, you'll be waiting a while for any band to be really doing arena tours (unless it's Evile supporting a larger act, I reckon).

Vektor is the best Thrash I've heard in this decade, Black Future is such an amazing album! I hope they get far!
