Blatant spam, but screw it. Right, I'm about upto testing stages with a little project I've been working on, and I need some guinea pigs to help test it.
The Non-techie stuff
It's a Linux LiveCD that has Avast! Antivirus installed, attaches all local drives and has two icons on the desktop. One automatically scans all drives, the other starts the main program so you can do stuff like update definitions and scan custom folders. The advantage of doing this outside of Windows is that the files aren't locked so you can delete them if need be.
The Techie stuff
It's based off a default Ubuntu 8.10 install, and it should also able to run on any PC. As it's a LiveCD, it doesn't install anything to the hard drive and can be used to clean stubborn viruses/adware/other nasties that like to hide away in Windows' protected areas like the pagefile, system DLLs etc.
If anyone wants to test it, feel free to grab the ISO and burn to CD: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EXL26YT0
This may well turn into a proper project with SourceForge download mirrors, support site etc, but that really depends on if I get permission from Alwil (company who distribute Avast) and Canoical (Ubuntu's owners) to distribute their software. In any case, feedback is appreciated .

Gee.... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but lately the only things that truly motivate me are erections and bowel movements.

I didn't understand the non-techie stuff. Maybe I'm not your guy.
Avast still rocks my world though, thanks for that.

I won't test it, but I will say well done, that sounds splendid.

It's actually non-techie people I'm aiming this at, so if you want to download and test it, you can do. Ubuntu is actually one of the most user-friendly Linux distributions available (hence why I chose it for the project) so it should be something everyone can use.

Pretty much.
I had a woman on the phone to me at work the other day and it took me ages to work out what she was using; it turned out to be Linux. What a complete fag enabler.
