Baroness is a band I think may be in the area of what your looking for....

You may not like them but I think thery'e proper good.

Try listening to a band called BETHLEHEM it isnt fast but it is dark and quite scary!! Also the first ABRUPTUM album is definately dark and horrific, and anything by INADE. i listen to these in the dark lying on the sofa and immerse myself in its utter desperation. They may not be what your looking for right now, but are definately something that have their time and specific mood!!

Black Hole!

Italian Doom/Progressive band. It's very dark and oriented around horror. Good luck finding it though. :wink:

I just listen to Danse Macabre by Celtic Frost on full blast in a dark room when I want something dark. And cry my eyes out.

Dark and doomy bands i'd say...Anathema, Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Novembers Doom and Dolorian, to name a couple.

Rhapsody, they're also dark. Especially that song they did with Chistopher Lee. He's a bloody vampire for god's sake, you can't get darker than that.
